A calm yet eventful night passed just like that. The next morning, Bruce came downstairs for breakfast, still bleary-eyed, just as Clark was carrying coffee over to the table.

Clark handed him the coffee, and Bruce took it automatically. After one sip, he seemed to remember something, shoved the cup back into Clark's hand, and pretended nothing had happened.

Clark found it a little funny, so he actually laughed. Bruce glared at him as he walked.

Bruce looked at Lex, who was sitting at the table reading the paper, and couldn't help saying, "You're dressed like you're walking the red carpet this early in the morning. Are you celebrating Metropolis's imminent destruction?"

"Whether Metropolis is destroyed has nothing to do with you." Lex scanned the newspaper as he spoke. "How long are you planning to freeload here? It would be wonderful if you left in two minutes."

Bruce immediately put down his fork and stormed off. Clark glared at Lex first, then grabbed Bruce and pulled him back.

"Finish breakfast first. Then the two of us will go find Diana. Lex will contact Arthur and Oliver."

"What? He joined the Justice League?"

"He counts as outside support," Clark said calmly. "To deal with the coming crisis, we need professional technical support."

"I'm not professional?"

"Then the two of you can work together?"

"I'm not working with him!"

Clark looked at him helplessly. Bruce seemed to finally realize he was being a little unreasonable. After thinking it over, he said, "I'll go to Wayne Enterprises' Metropolis headquarters. After Lucius took over the Gotham headquarters, Tim should have been transferred to Metropolis."
