Clark walked into Los Angeles Airport and glanced around the waiting area. He quickly spotted that familiar face.
"Diana, Diana, over here!" he called, waving.
Diana came over with her suitcase and gave him a hug. The expert and several of his assistants followed behind her.
"I heard you made quite a splash," Diana said. "But becoming famous came at just the right time. We finally don't have to stay in that godforsaken place in the Arctic doing research."
Clark smiled. "That does make me feel like all my efforts were worth it."
He went over and shook the expert's hand before saying, "Don't worry, Doctor. I've reached an agreement with the military. They won't control you anymore or force you to dissect aliens. You can research whatever you want. The Los Angeles laboratory has the most professional equipment, so it should help with your work."
"You've helped us tremendously, Mr. Kent. Honestly, I never expected you to be willing to step forward."
Clark sighed inwardly. It was not entirely because he had wanted to step forward. What else could he have done?
Still, the expert and Diana returning really did brighten his mood. At last, he had accomplished something through his own efforts.
