Background

Nahida was imprisoned in Sumeru for five hundred years before Li Yue discovered her in an Evil Organization’s prison through an accidental spatial portal. He rescued her without initially knowing that she was the Dendro Archon, then adopted her as his daughter. 10 37

After leaving Sumeru, Nahida encountered Venti, Zhongli, and Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. She regarded life outside confinement as far preferable to remaining locked in the Sanctimonious Palace. 82

Li Yue repeatedly promised that she would one day be able to “run freely across the Teyvat continent” under his name. Nahida ultimately accepted him as her father and trusted his plan to restore her position in Sumeru. 83

Her time in Liyue and travels across other worlds gradually strengthen her confidence. When Sumeru’s people place their faith in her, she chooses to confront a vastly stronger enemy rather than flee again, declaring that she can no longer keep running after five hundred years. 156

As Sumeru’s ruler, Nahida is compassionate but practical. She apologizes to the people for her absence, accepts their trust, and delegates major responsibilities to Alhaitham and Cyno rather than trying to personally handle every affair. 155 159 177
