Background / History

Li Yue arrives in Konoha claiming to be the steward of Otsutsuki Indra and demands that Sasuke assume his position as clan head. Sasuke is confused by the revelation that his Uchiha lineage is connected to the Otsutsuki clan. 42 43

The exposure of Shimura Danzo's involvement in the Uchiha clan massacre enrages Sasuke. Seeking the strength to avenge his clan by killing Uchiha Itachi, he agrees to cooperate with Li Yue: Li Yue will train him, while Sasuke is expected to continue the Otsutsuki bloodline. 44 46

Li Yue converts Sasuke into a Soul Reaper and gives him an Asauchi. During the ensuing trial, Sasuke awakens Indra; his immediate exhilaration and attempt to show off are cut short when Li Yue strikes him down. 47 48
