Lei Nuola left, taking with her the flame Zhou Ming had given her—the queen in exile and her drifting house vanished together into the endless gray-white fog beyond the window. It was only long after she had gone that Zhou Ming took a deep breath, turned, and stepped away from the window.

He had always been curious about how the "Frost Queen" traveled through that boundless fog. He had wondered about the principles and process by which that drifting house sailed at the end of the world. Even knowing that the house was New Hope's escape pod, he still found it hard to imagine what powered the thing now, or what it looked like as it sailed through the fog—but Lei Nuola herself seemed unable to explain it clearly.

In response to Zhou Ming's questions, she had only said that it was some sort of "instinctive" process. She and the drifting house had become one; when the cabin traveled at the end of the world, it felt as though she were "walking through the fog." She could not sense the chaotic fractures in space and time, nor did she need to consider the cabin's "power" situation.

It sounded wondrous. Zhou Ming could only interpret it as the escape pod retaining a complete automatic navigation system, one that, after the changes brought about by the Great Annihilation, might have become the drifting house's "supernatural trait"—much like Alice's "navigational instinct" after taking the helm.

After all, even the doll did not know exactly how the Lost Homeland got moving, yet that did not stop her from making the ship tear through the end of the world at full speed...

Letting out a soft breath, Zhou Ming set aside those irrelevant thoughts for the moment and walked over to his desk.
