Background / History

Li Rong originated from the Yuan Nation’s Chaos God Cult before voluntarily defecting to Great Wu. Disillusioned by Yuan’s decline and internal strife, he advocated centralized control of armed force, the weakening of independent martial power among civilians, and strict rule as the basis for social stability. 319

Following Wu’s conquest of Deer City, Li Rong arrived as a strategist to implement the Public Law System. The policy combined Wu’s True Blood Dao with Yuan’s Jin Li Dao: cultivation methods would be disclosed, martial resources distributed according to talent and merit, and recipients bound to the state by contract. 319

By the time Wei He entered Great Yue under the identity Wang Xuan, Li Rong was the Marshal of the Burning Heaven Army Department and one of the Nine Great National Marshals. Ziyin arranged for Wei He to meet him, leading to their master-disciple relationship. 443 445

Appearance

Li Rong is recognized by vivid red hair, light-red eyes, crimson wings, and an intense, fiery presence. In military action, he wears ornate crimson armor; his bloodline aura is hot enough to frighten weaker Exotic Beasts and True Beasts away. 473 484 489

  • Light-red eyes that appear to contain suppressed flames. 484
  • Crimson wings, later accompanied by fiery-red feathers when exerting power. 473 521
  • Commonly appears in crimson armor as Marshal of the Burning Heaven Army Department. 484 567

Personality

Li Rong is fiery, domineering, and quick to use force when provoked. Fellow marshals regard him as overly impulsive, prone to trusting his judgment, and liable to leave opponents dead or crippled after a confrontation. 489 490 513

Despite this reputation, he is deeply protective of his disciples and subordinates. He invests heavily in Wei He’s advancement, defends him against powerful political and religious factions, and continues searching for him after his disappearance. 479 484 490 524 565

Li Rong places exceptional faith in personal judgment and loyalty. Though others question Wang Xuan’s background and motives, Li Rong insists that his disciple is loyal, righteous, and capable of repaying kindness. 490 499
