Background / History

War of Good and Evil

Ye Ming was the previous Evil God, a divine position responsible for managing the negative forces created by the Five Realms' operation. The Cave of Evil Malice gathered this turbid power, which could not be erased even by Sages and required an Evil God to purify and contain it 1177 1379.

Dissatisfied with the God Realm, Ye Ming used the Cave of Evil Malice's power to provoke the ancient War of Good and Evil. He claimed that the God Realm needed reform and that he had only brought down gods unworthy of their positions; however, his war devastated the Five Realms and dragged countless innocents into the conflict 827 1098 1358. Later revelations indicate that he had received a hint from the Hongmeng Sage, but also pursued his own ambition to dominate the God Realm 1376 1399.

The God Realm narrowly won after suffering catastrophic losses. The Sages severed Ye Ming's connection to the Cave of Evil Malice, greatly weakening him, while Goddess Huajian helped bring him down from within 1399. Because a god's body could not be readily destroyed, Ye Ming's divine body and divine soul were separated and sealed across different worlds; Huajian sacrificed herself to help complete the sealing 582 824 1399.

Attempts at Resurrection

Ye Ming's followers spent millennia weakening seals, gathering his scattered body parts, and collecting divine souls as nourishment for his recovery. They released evil souls and fierce ghosts from the Underworld, infiltrated cultivator factions, replaced souls, and used living vessels to cultivate his remaining divine-soul fragments 582 773 1080.

A sealed portion of Ye Ming's body in the Weiyu Realm was suppressed beneath the Cloud Sea by Yunxi and her allies through the Heavenly Dipper Evil-Slaying Formation. The formation drew upon the Big Dipper's star power and forced him back into dormancy, though it cost the cultivators much of their cultivation 627.

His separated limbs repeatedly sought vessels. His left arm possessed Huangfu Zhenghong and was later refined by Xue Yu; after Xue Yu's death, the arm attempted to take Yunxi as its new host 734 785. Other portions, including his heart, head, and left leg, were pursued, transferred, and resealed as his followers attempted to reunite the divine body 790 1336 1352.

Possession of Liao Ziqian

After multiple failures, Ye Ming possessed Liao Ziqian, believing that Liao's unique physique and destiny as the potential next Evil God made him an ideal replacement vessel. Ye Ming intended to merge Liao's body with his sealed original body and use the Immortal Realm as fuel for his resurrection 1177 1176.

Liao resisted from within his own sea of consciousness. His merit power repelled Ye Ming's divine soul, which particularly feared the Golden Light of Merit, while Yunxi and the Immortal Realm cultivators used the Heavenly Dipper Evil-Slaying Formation to weaken the Evil God's released energy 1177 1184.

Ye Ming's original body was ultimately destroyed by the combined efforts of Immortal Emperors using the Annihilation Formation Wheel. His final remnant soul was forced out of Liao Ziqian during Liao's ascension tribulation and captured in Yunxi's Soul-Collecting Mirror 1354 1376. Later accounts confirm that this final remnant soul was annihilated 1399.

Personality

Ye Ming was highly manipulative and regarded cultivators, followers, and even prospective vessels as tools for his return. He amplified the greed, hatred, and desires of those who came into contact with his power, then exploited the consequences of their choices 827 1177.

He possessed a strong sense of grievance toward the God Realm and repeatedly framed his actions as a necessary revolution. However, he refused to accept responsibility for the destruction caused by his war, insisting that he had been used to cleanse the God Realm and unfairly made to bear the blame 827 1376.

His desperation became increasingly apparent after his defeat. He sacrificed followers to restore his strength, attempted to deceive Yunxi through Huajian's divine soul, and obsessively pursued reunification with his original body despite repeated setbacks 1184 1369.
