Background

Liu Chuang was once a gangster with no sincere friends. During Su Jiu's first days after transmigrating, Su Jiu saved him from attackers; Liu Chuang later cared for the hospitalized Su Jiu and shared food with him. Their friendship became the foundation of Liu Chuang's reform. 1 2

After changing his ways, Liu Chuang tried to make amends for past crimes. Su Jiu supported that effort, including helping him secure compensation for someone he had wronged; according to Lian Feng, Su Jiu spent over two months searching Changbai Mountain for valuable ginseng to raise the money. 15 20

When Su Jiu warned him of an impending alien invasion, Liu Chuang agreed to help without demanding proof beyond his trust in Su Jiu. He became Su Jiu's first recruited team member, received a personalized cultivation method, and began training daily. 2

Following his training, Liu Chuang loses much of the ruffian aura his neighbors associated with him and develops a more masculine bearing. 2

Liu Chuang is blunt, boisterous, and deeply loyal. He treats Su Jiu as the brother who gave him a second chance, and his loyalty is based on that personal bond rather than institutional allegiance. 2 20 He rejects being treated as a disposable weapon, insisting that he can defend his country without surrendering his freedom of choice. 15 20

He is protective of comrades and civilians, challenging Leina when she dismisses frightened recruits as “misfits” and later worrying over Ye Kunling’s safety in unstable space. 18 307 He can also be reckless: he panics when confronted by Morgana, attacks Atai before fully assessing him, and brutally kills the Demon after a failed interrogation. 40 186 187

Despite his rough manner, Liu Chuang matures into a capable instructor and battlefield leader. He organizes training exercises, establishes a combat-based captain-selection process, and makes tactical suggestions during the Dark Sacred Silver operation. 68 91 270
