Place in Konohagakure
The Uchiha were once described as standing alongside the Senju in founding Konohagakure. Their strong internal clan identity later made them a target of Tobirama Senju’s efforts to weaken clan-based power within the village. 106 212
Before their downfall, they were regarded as Konoha’s most prominent and powerful clan, producing renowned prodigies such as Madara, Itachi, Shisui, and Sasuke. The clan also operated Konoha’s Military Police. 13 18
Clan Downfall
The Uchiha clan was massacred inside Konoha, leaving its compound largely empty and causing the Military Police to disappear from the streets. The village suppressed discussion of the incident, while a wanted poster publicly named Uchiha Itachi as the culprit. 18
Naruto’s later review of Danzō’s memories suggests that the disaster followed escalating hostility between the clan and the village. Danzō deliberately worsened the conflict, but Naruto concludes that the Uchiha themselves were not wholly blameless. 189
