The four souls immediately scattered, carefully searching every corner of the temple.
Although the entire building had briefly been pulled back into an ancient era by the Truth Engraver's power, only the temple itself could be changed. The space was not large to begin with, so searching it was not difficult.
Wu Heng looked around. The walls were mottled, the floor empty. He could take in nearly everything at a glance.
There was nothing that looked like a strange item or prop.
No matter how powerful the engraver was, it could not bring objects that had vanished back into the present.
Just when he thought this trip would yield nothing.
Xiaoxiao suddenly crawled out from a gap beneath the Deity Statue's base and shouted excitedly, "Uncle! There are so many words carved underneath! But I don't recognize any of them!"
Wu Heng perked up and immediately looked over.
Where Xiaoxiao was pointing was the base of the Deity Statue.
The engraver had twisted the space back into the past, but the Deity Statue itself had not been restored.
The stone statue was now absent, leaving behind only a solid square stone pedestal.
Unable to determine how long the engraver's effect would last, Wu Heng hurried over, braced both hands against the sides of the pedestal, and exerted force.
What the hell?
The pedestal did not budge at all.
Wu Heng could not help frowning.
Given the size of the pedestal, even an ordinary professional could gradually move it aside. Yet with his Strength over 100, he could not shift it even a little?
"Perhaps the rules limit it," the Empress Dowager floated closer and guessed. "Everything here can be 'seen,' but it cannot be changed. You are seeing the past—can you still change the past?"
Wu Heng found that reasonable.
