Stay on Treasure Island?
Rostand's gaze sharpened abruptly. His smile vanished, replaced by seriousness and restrained anger. "You think clinging to the hem of a hero's robe lets you replace the twenty years I've spent building this?"
Treasure Island had only become important over the past two years. Originally, it had merely done business with pirates.
Before the current hero Island Master appeared, Treasure Island's status had not even compared to the surrounding conglomerates.
But things were different now. Anyone could see Treasure Island's value.
Moreover, he had asked her to put in a good word for him, yet this was the result he had received.
"Please don't get upset yet. Hear me out. If I truly meant you harm, I wouldn't have come to tell you this myself." Lady Li gently swirled her wineglass, sending ripples through the rose-colored liquor.
Rostand said nothing, merely looking at her with cold eyes.
He had operated on Treasure Island for so long. If pushed too far, he could arrange for this beautiful elf to suffer a small accident on her way back.
"Go on!" Rostand wanted to hear what she had to say.
Lady Li took a sip of wine, then said, "Mr. Rostand, you've managed Treasure Island for so long, yet the island's performance has never been particularly outstanding. Of course, that isn't your fault. It's a problem left over from before."
"It will also be very difficult for the local conglomerate's performance to make a breakthrough going forward. You should understand that as well."
"Treasure Island has developed too quickly. Every conglomerate head has seen its value. After today, who knows how many people will have their eyes on your position?"
Rostand narrowed his eyes, glancing at the other representatives in the distance. Quite a few were watching this way.
