Arc 5The Sand Assault

Chiyue exposed Hiruzen’s use of the Telescope Technique, then escorted supplies to the front and led Konoha’s defense against Sunagakure. The arc ended with Sunagakure devastating Konoha’s camp, Danzo badly injured, and Chiyue ordering his group back to reinforce the defenses.

Arc 6Peace Talks in Amegakure

Chiyue returned to Konoha, passed his jonin exam, and joined Tsunade’s delegation to negotiate with Hanzō. After forcing Amegakure to the table, he reunited with Yahiko, Nagato, and Konan and gave them guidance before leaving.

Arc 7Chiyue Becomes a Jonin Instructor

After helping secure peace with Amegakure and defeating a Sunagakure ambush, Chiyue returned to Konoha and was appointed a Jonin Instructor. He began leading an unlikely team while pursuing Sage Mode and helping Kushina negotiate with the Nine-Tails, which agreed to lend her its Chakra in exchange for learning about White.

  • Chiyue refused Danzo’s demand to record Lightning Burst in the Scroll of Seals, then escorted wounded Konoha soldiers through a Sunagakure ambush, where White and Manda routed Chiyo’s forces.
  • Tsunade protected Chiyue from Danzo, while Hiruzen and the elders kept Chiyue in Konoha as a Jonin Instructor and sent Minato, Nawaki, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru to the Land of Rivers battlefield.

Chiyue trained Masumi, uncovered Danzo’s stolen Chakra Metal shipment, and joined Orochimaru on a mission to retaliate against Kumogakure for targeting Kushina. The two reached the Land of Lightning, where Chiyue slipped into Kumogakure while Orochimaru met Konoha’s spy.

  • Kushina tried to enlist the Nine-Tails’ help, but White’s scent distracted it, so Chiyue sent White to provoke it into accepting her as its Jinchuriki.
  • Chiyue advised Masumi to grow stronger through chakra-control practice instead of seeking his teammates’ approval, and he tested Tobirama’s Raijin Sword after Tsunade gave it to him.
