Chiyue challenged Konoha’s leaders over his retirement and the village’s treatment of its shinobi, then became central to the growing conflict with Kirigakure after taking Samehada. He led raids across Kirigakure’s island bases before Orochimaru assigned him and Minato to infiltrate Kirigakure, with Minato responsible for their escape.
