Background / History
Peter was a Midtown High student regularly bullied by Flash Thompson and his friends. Hawk's presence in the locker room gives him an opening to escape, though Hawk refuses Peter's attempt to thank him on the school bus 2 3.
Following his mutation, Peter becomes physically stronger and more confident, humiliating Flash in the cafeteria. He accepts a summer position at the Daily Bugle because he enjoys photography, while privately establishing himself as Spider-Man 17 18. Uncle Ben Parker's death soon becomes the catalyst for his vigilante career; Peter carries Ben's lesson, “With great power comes great responsibility,” into every intervention 42.
Peter reveals his identity to Hawk while investigating the Lizard. The two identify Dr. Curtis Connors as the creature's likely identity, then work together through the aftermath of Connors' attacks on Midtown High 47 55.
After helping fight Electro in Times Square, Peter struggles with Harry Osborn's request for Spider-Man's blood to cure the Osborn hereditary illness. He eventually provides it after warning Harry that the serum may be fatal to anyone outside the Parker family; Harry nevertheless dies shortly afterward 114 115.
Peter travels to London with Mary Jane, Hawk, and Gwen, where he and Mary stop an attempted plane hijacking 118. He later disappears with Felicia Hardy while investigating evidence concerning his parents' plane crash and their spider-serum research. The pair reach Skull Island, where its distorted time flow leaves Felicia pregnant by the time Hawk finds them 166 182 183.
Peter and Felicia's son, Ben Hawk Parker, is born after their return. Peter names him for Uncle Ben and makes Hawk the child's godfather 251 252. He continues working despite Felicia's wealth, delivering pizzas and contributing his earnings to the household 279.
A time alteration later removes Peter, Felicia, and Ben from Hawk's timeline, replacing them with a younger alternate Peter. Peter eventually returns with his memories restored and begins specializing in quantum research to understand multiversal travel 353 356 408 418.
Appearance
Peter initially has a thin, wiry build and a shy demeanor. After his mutation, he becomes notably muscular—described as changing from a “beanpole” into a “young bull”—while retaining a resemblance to the original Spider-Man 2 17.
- Wears a red-and-blue Spider-Man suit beneath ordinary clothing, allowing him to change by removing his jacket and putting on his mask 124.
- Uses a mask to protect his civilian identity while operating as Spider-Man 48.
- After extended time on Skull Island, he is tanned, bare-chested, muscular, and covered in scattered scars 181.
Personality
Peter is shy, introverted, and restrained in ordinary conversation, but becomes decisive when someone is in danger. He is strongly guided by Uncle Ben's teachings and consistently refuses to exploit his powers for easy money, even taking photography work and pizza deliveries to support himself and his family 42 165 279.
His compassion does not make him passive. Peter killed Uncle Ben's murderer and understands Hawk's willingness to use lethal retaliation against threats to loved ones 79 95. He is also fiercely loyal: he repeatedly offers Hawk support against threats ranging from the Lizard to Malekith, even when Hawk asks him not to intervene 47 124.
Abilities & Skills
Spider Physiology
Peter's mutation grants him the physical capabilities of Spider-Man.
- Possesses enhanced strength, speed, agility, and reflexes sufficient to battle the Lizard despite being initially outmatched 52.
- Can cling to walls and maneuver across vertical surfaces 53.
- Endures severe impacts and rapidly recovers from punishment sustained in combat 53.
- His vision is sharp enough to see the Williamsburg Bridge from Hawk's rooftop when concentrating 47.
Spider-Sense
Peter possesses an instinctive danger sense that warns him of threats and sharpens his reactions.
- Detects danger quickly enough to dodge Hawk's sudden punch after firing a web at him 19.
- Identifies residual scents and connections between people, using Hawk and Gwen's scents to help trace the Lizard's identity 47.
- Senses Malekith's threat at Stonehenge and immediately evacuates before Hawk's fire dragon destroys the area 129.
- Uses intuition to recognize when not to pry into Hawk and Wanda's changed relationship 444.
Organic Webbing and Web-Swinging
Unlike technology-dependent versions of Spider-Man, Peter produces webbing directly from his wrists.
- Fires webs without mechanical web-shooters 17 124.
- Uses webs for rapid traversal and aerial maneuvering throughout New York and London 95 118.
- Employs web lines, vehicles, and his own momentum to launch Electro into the air for Hawk's finishing attack 113.
- Wears his suit under his clothes because he does not need to carry web-shooter equipment 124.
Photography
Peter works for the Daily Bugle and profits by photographing Spider-Man—often taking pictures of himself in action.
- Selects the Daily Bugle summer job because he likes photography 18.
- Receives a $500 bonus for a high-definition photograph of Spider-Man's fight with Electro 114.
Quantum Research
Peter transitions from physics into specialized quantum research after multiversal displacement.
- Studies offensive quantum physics to find a route back across the Multiverse 418.
- Builds the Quantum Positioning Shuttle Device, which can access the Quantum Realm with correctly configured Pym Particles 419.
- Collaborates with Hank Pym on quantum research and tracks residual Celestial and Phoenix energy through quantum algorithms 443.
- Identifies Quantum Realm coordinates believed to connect to Jean's destination universe and designs a Quantum Tunnel plan requiring the Space Stone, advanced algorithms, and Pym Particles 444.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
