History

Tianmeng's recruitment

Huo Yuhao initially chose Shrek City for its security, but regarded Shrek Academy as a temporary source of protection, resources, and talent rather than a permanent allegiance. His goal was to build a foundation through the academy and eventually leave with it 7.

Under the identity of Master Tianmeng, Huo Yuhao used the Soul Power Storage Core as a calling card to attract Shrek's attention. Qian Duoduo offered him the post of vice dean of the Soul Guide Department, research funding, an independent laboratory, and a compatible Soul Ring upon reaching Rank 90 29.

Mu En accepted Tianmeng after judging his stated intentions sincere, promised him a Sea God Pavilion elder position once he became a Titled Douluo, and allocated one-tenth of Shrek City's revenue to his independent research 31. Tianmeng subsequently established a dedicated Soul Guide Class and imposed his own standards for its student assignments, management, and curriculum 29 42.

Dependence on Soul Tool innovation

Tianmeng's inventions, including the Soul Power Storage Device and Artificial Soul Rings, made Shrek's Soul Guide Department increasingly influential. The academy publicly supported the Spirit Pagoda's spread across the former Douluo Three Nations, while Tianmeng used the arrangement to expand an organization that could operate independently of Shrek 76 151.

He also used Artificial Soul Rings capable of guiding Martial Soul evolution to pressure Shrek's senior leadership. Though they desired the technology's benefits, Tianmeng emphasized that evolution could not be guaranteed, exposing the academy's reliance on his research 72.

Internal crisis and reform

Shrek's failure to protect Inner Academy students during Xuan Zi's expedition exposed serious institutional negligence. Mu En accepted responsibility on behalf of the academy, stripped Xuan Zi of his posts, and ordered him to apologize to the families of the deceased 74.

Ning Tian later documented Zhou Yi's abusive teaching practices, including widespread student injuries, hidden wounds, and premature Inner Academy graduations. Her confrontation with Zhou Yi became the entry point for a broader investigation into Shrek's internal corruption 124 125.

Under Mu En's approval, Shrek began an internal purge. More than 200 corrupt personnel—including Soul Kings, Soul Emperors, Soul Douluo, and Titled Douluo—were executed; Yan Shaozhe resigned as Martial Soul Department dean and confined himself within the Golden Ancient Tree 149 150.

Collapse and dissolution

After Tang San was exposed as an Evil Soul Master, Xuan Zi publicly used Shrek's authority to take him from Star Luo City rather than permit outside judgment. His actions turned public opinion against the academy and gave the three great empires, sects, and other academies cause to demand Tang San's surrender 225 228.

Shrek lost business partnerships, contact with branch bases, and a substantial portion of its teachers and students. Its normal teaching operations largely ceased as students withdrew or left for home 228 234.

Yan Shaozhe ultimately proposed dissolving Shrek and merging its remaining teachers and students into the Spirit Pagoda to preserve them. Shrek's dissolution was formally announced a month later, while the Spirit Pagoda assumed control of its assets without significant opposition from major factions 235 236.
