History

Establishment and early expansion

The Spirit Pagoda began in Shrek City as an organization whose principal business was the sale of Artificial Soul Rings. It was publicly led by Tianmeng, identified as Shrek Academy's Soul Guide Department vice dean and a high-ranking Soul Guide Master. Its early reputation was reinforced by Shrek's backing. 58

Within weeks of opening, its Artificial Soul Rings were widely adopted in Shrek City. The Pagoda offered free Martial Soul awakenings, free first Soul Rings, cultivation consultation, and career planning; its rings were generally several hundred years old and selected through a testing device that estimated a user's absorption limit. 58 60

Under Tianmeng's leadership and Shrek's support, the Spirit Pagoda spread rapidly across the Douluo Three Nations. Its expansion coincided with Soul Beasts becoming unable to produce absorbable Soul Rings, forcing Soul Masters toward the Pagoda's superior artificial alternative. 76

Separation from Shrek

Although outsiders initially regarded the Spirit Pagoda as a branch of Shrek, Huo Yuhao intended to establish it as an independent power. 125

Zhang Lexuan joined after leaving Shrek and was appointed Deputy Pagoda Master. Huo Yuhao entrusted her with personnel records, laboratory expenditure reports, sensitive research plans, and authority over the Pagoda's internal affairs. 95 96

The Spirit Pagoda later gained Elder Mu's approval to recruit students from Shrek Academy. 143 Ning Guan subsequently brought the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect into alliance with the Pagoda, contributed its resources, and assumed responsibility for diplomacy as another Deputy Pagoda Master. This alliance signaled the Pagoda's independence from Shrek. 151

As Shrek collapsed under political pressure, Yan Shaozhe sought the Spirit Pagoda's protection for its remaining teachers and students. Huo Yuhao subsequently planned to erase Shrek's legacy gradually and reform it under the Pagoda's control. 234 235

Continental influence

The Spirit Pagoda became the dominant talent-recruitment force across the Douluo Three Nations. Its free awakenings, physical-talent testing, first Soul Rings, employment opportunities, and broad branch network gave it overwhelming influence among commoners and young Soul Masters. 305

By this period, other sects and factions faced a choice between joining the Spirit Pagoda or declining under its control of the Soul Ring supply. The Pagoda's foundations included Super Douluos, Soul Beast Soul Masters, and allied forces capable of intimidating factions that resisted its policies. 305 306

Following the Sun Moon Empire's conquest of the former three empires, the Spirit Pagoda negotiated on Star Luo's behalf, recovered sect disciples captured during the Soul Master Tournament, and gained public prestige as a protector of civilians and smaller factions. 335

The Sun Moon Empire later permitted Spirit Pagoda branches in its major cities and granted it Nation-Protecting Sect treatment. 335
