Three minutes later, the flagship of the First Floating Fleet began to descend slowly.
When the bottom of the ship was thirty meters from the ground, it stopped descending, and the entire colossal vessel hovered in midair, utterly motionless.
The magic array on the port side lit up. Light spread layer by layer along the intricate patterns, and a gangway emerged from within the glow, extending downward section by section until it touched the ground steadily.
Before the city gate, a unit that had just been transferred from the battlefield quickly formed ranks on both sides of the avenue, serving as a temporary honor guard.
When Orlando saw Velin walk down from the Floating Battleship, he stepped forward and saluted. "Lord."
"Enter the city with me."
"Yes."
When they arrived before the city gate, Velin stopped and looked at the warriors standing on both sides. Though their armor and weapons had been given a simple wipe-down, bloodstains still remained on them.
He came before a young soldier and looked at his slightly immature face. Velin asked, "How old are you this year?"
Hearing this, the youth Soldier answered in a slightly trembling voice, "T-twenty-three."
"Where are you from?"
"R-replying to you, I... I'm from Baiwa Town, West Wind County, Qixing Territory."
Seeing this, Velin turned sideways, pointed at Orlando, and asked, "Do you recognize this man?"
Hearing this, the youth Soldier turned to look at Orlando, a trace of uncertainty on his face, as if he had seen him before, yet also as if he never had.
"You don't know?"
"I... I..."
"Don't be nervous." Velin patted his shoulder, his tone easing. "Just answer normally. This doesn't involve any matter of principle. I simply want to understand the situation."
"That lord looks very much like lord Orlando, the
