Background

Orlando and his younger brother Hebrew were slaves before Velin removed their Slave Marks. The brothers immediately pledged to remain at Velin's side for as long as he would have them. Velin trained them in the Knight Awakening Method and made them his Guardian Knights under an oath witnessed by the Goddess of Life. 3 12

Orlando entered his first battle against the Boulder Tribe's goblins in leather armor with a knight's shortsword. Velin quickly recognized his exceptional potential and began cultivating him as a counterbalance within the developing territorial army. 14

During the following raid on a goblin tribe, Orlando independently commanded fifty serfs after first observing other knights' methods. He credited his opportunity to his status as a Guardian Knight and resolved to earn respect through his own achievements. 15
