The final fate of the God-Emperor of Mankind was to sit upon the Golden Throne and illuminate the Astronomican by burning his own being. This allowed humanity to find its bearings while navigating the Warp, while also providing Holy Terra with a Psychic Barrier to prevent monstrous entities from sweeping everything away.

Although the Emperor remained active within the Warp, in the Physical Universe, the Emperor had already become a "living corpse" on the brink of death.
