Hawking traveled to Xandar to find Star-Lord and Yondu, intending to use them to reach Ego's Planet and capture Ego for the Divine Tree Fruit. After secretly obtaining information from Nova Prime, he placed a ten-million-credit bounty on Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord.

• Hawking arrived on Xandar and surveyed its prosperous, peaceful city while explaining why he needed Star-Lord and Yondu to reach Ego's Planet.
• Hawking infiltrated the Nova Empire Headquarters Building, used the Imperius Curse on Nova Prime, and accessed the archives for planetary coordinates and broker information.
• Hawking visited Old Broker at a secondhand recycling shop and offered ten million credits to capture Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, alive.
• Old Broker accepted Hawking's bounty and agreed to contact him when Star-Lord was captured.

Star-Lord saw a ten-million bounty on himself and planned to claim the reward by pretending to be his own captor. Before he could carry out the scheme, Rocket and Groot confronted him, and the Nova Corps arrested all three.

• Star-Lord fled a planet after centaurs pursued him, then decided to turn himself in to collect the bounty on his own head.
• Hawking hired a bounty hunter through Old Broker and learned that Peter Quill had supposedly been captured alive.
• Star-Lord reached Xandar and arranged a hotel-room exchange, planning to fake the transaction and escape with the money.
• Rocket and Groot blocked Star-Lord on his way to the hotel, and the three clashed.
• The Nova Corps arrived and ordered 89P13, Groot, and Peter Quill to drop their weapons and submit to arrest.

Mr. Hawking tracked Peter Quill to Kyln Prison and broke in to rescue him. He freed Peter and revealed that he was from Earth, leaving Peter stunned by the connection to his childhood home.

• Mr. Hawking forced Old Broker to find Peter Quill, and Old Broker learned that the Nova Corps had arrested him and sent him to Kyln Prison.
• Mr. Hawking flew to Kyln Prison and learned that Peter had arrived with Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
• Mr. Hawking used magic to bypass the prison security and knock out the guards.
• Mr. Hawking freed Peter from his handcuffs and told him that he was Hawking, a fellow Earthling.

Mr. Hawking recruited Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot to help him, then freed them from the prison and retrieved Drax. He left them stunned after teleporting them to the hangar and storing the Milano in Ancestor Space.

• Mr. Hawking revealed that he had posted Star-Lord’s bounty, transformed Star-Lord’s weapons, and offered him, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot one hundred million each for a job.
• Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot accepted the offer, and Mr. Hawking freed them as the prison alarms sounded.

• Hawking invited Star-Lord to return to Earth after their mission, but Star-Lord refused because memories of his mother's death made Earth painful for him.
• Hawking summoned WangWang, and Star-Lord and Rocket marveled at the spaceship's value and advanced design.
• WangWang materialized, kicked Star-Lord when he tried to touch her, and Hawking warned the others that she controlled the ship.

• The Kree commander-in-chief ordered Ronan to stop attacking, but Ronan refused and denounced the Supreme Intelligence.
• Ronan declared that he was leaving the Kree Empire and vowed to destroy the Nova Empire and Xandar.
• Gamora and Nebula revealed that Ronan had agreed to cooperate with Thanos in exchange for help destroying Xandar and ruling the Kree Empire.

• Hawking disarmed the Nova Empire soldiers and persuaded Nova Prime to clear the escapees’ criminal records if he saved the Eighth Legion.
• Hawking Apparated onto the Dark Aster and asked Ronan to stop attacking the Nova Empire.
• Ronan ordered The Pursuer and Kree Soldiers to capture Hawking, so Hawking blasted everyone in the control room with Almighty Push.

• Star-Lord cut off Yondu’s teasing and learned the Ravagers were resting on Contraxia for three days.

• Gamora, Nebula, Star-Lord, Rocket, and Drax discussed whether Hawking was trustworthy and heard Rocket confirm he had destroyed an asteroid belt.

The Guardians learned that Hawking had a fiancée and watched a projection of him training under four hundred times gravity. Two days later, Hawking and the others arrived at Contraxia, where Ravagers eyed their valuable ship and Hawking dismissed the threat of anyone following them.

• WangWang told Gamora that Hawking planned to marry his fiancée when he returned to Earth and that WangWang's appearance was modeled after her.
• The group questioned WangWang about Hawking's daily training, and she revealed that he trained in a Gravity Chamber under four hundred times normal gravity.
• WangWang projected footage of Hawking moving rapidly in the chamber, astonishing the group and warning them to honor their work for him.
• Two days later, Hawking and the others arrived at Contraxia, a frozen Ravager black market, and landed in its only brightly lit city.
• Ravagers eyed the WangWang ID greedily, and Star-Lord warned that some might follow them, but Hawking said they could do so at their own risk.

Hawking used his psychic powers to learn the coordinates of Ego’s Planet after Yondu refused to reveal them, then demonstrated his strength by stopping Yondu’s Yaka Arrow. Star-Lord left with Hawking, promising Yondu he would return safely and support him in his old age.

• Hawking and the others arrived at Yellow Home, where Star-Lord went inside to speak with Yondu while they waited outside.
• Yondu refused Hawking’s offer of one hundred million for Ego’s Planet’s coordinates and said he would not let Star-Lord go there.
• Yondu’s Ravager subordinates urged him to hand over the coordinates, but he silenced them by summoning his Yaka Arrow.
• Hawking read Yondu’s memories, learned the coordinates, and left with Star-Lord; Yondu ordered his men to seize them, but Hawking immobilized the Ravagers.

Mantis nearly warned them that Ego intended to kill them, but Hawking interrupted her, leaving the group at the temple dining hall.

• Ego sensed Celestial Power approaching in a spaceship and went to greet Peter Quill, whom he recognized as his surviving son.
• Peter and Ego pretended to be overjoyed at their reunion, then went with Hawking and the others to Ego's temple.
• Ego described his origins and asked Mantis to show the visitors around while he spoke with Peter alone.

Hawking and his allies sealed Ego’s consciousness in the God Sealing Array and absorbed Ego’s Planet into the Ancestor Space. With Ego’s plan stopped, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot chose to join Hawking’s coming fight against Thanos without taking payment.

• Ego sensed Gamora and the others approaching his core, but Hawking and Star-Lord tore apart his avatar and stopped him from concentrating his consciousness.

Hawking helped Seiya find his sister Seika and restore her lost memories, but powerful Cosmos erupted at Sanctuary before they could celebrate for long. Seiya, Shun, and Hawking reached Aries Palace, where Hawking stopped Deathmask and Aphrodite from attacking them.

• Seiya found Seika outside a village, and Hawking restored her memories of her younger brother with magic.
• Seiya and Shun sensed powerful Cosmos from Sanctuary and hurried there with Hawking.
• At Aries Palace, Seiya knocked Deathmask away while Mu explained that Deathmask and Aphrodite had returned as Hades's Specters.
• Seiya and Shun insisted on fighting to protect Athena, and Deathmask and Aphrodite attacked them from behind.

Hawking protected Mu, Seiya, and Shun from Saga’s attack with his Absolute Defense, then used Amenominaka to take six resurrected Gold Saints into the Ancestor Space. Mu, Seiya, and Shun remained in Aries Palace, where Mu warned them that more enemies were nearby.

• Shion, Saga, Camus, Shura, Aphrodite, and Deathmask revealed themselves as Specters and attacked the group.
• Mu blocked Saga’s Illusion Demon Emperor Fist with Crystal Wall, but Hawking’s Absolute Defense stopped the attack after the wall shattered.
• Shion sealed Mu’s movement and ordered the others to continue toward Athena before their resurrection time ran out.
• Hawking stopped Seiya and Shun from attacking, opened his Nine Tomoe Rinne Sharingan, and transported himself and the six Specters to the Ancestor Space.
