Power Progression

Great Dao Maturation

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Nascent Great Dao 368 A sufficiently developed Middle Thousand World can use its World Origin and foundation to begin condensing a Nascent Great Dao. Even its infancy contains a trace of Great Dao power.
Seed of Great Dao 49 368 A condensed Nascent Great Dao nurtures a seed. A complete Great Dao surviving a world’s destruction can also return to this budding state.
Great Dao Tree 49 368 Nourishment with World Origin allows the seed to take root, sprout, and grow into a tree.
Developing Dao Fruit 50 51 Dao Fruits develop toward complete Great Daos. Bai Yu’s four initial fruits approached maturity after absorbing Great Thousand World Origin.
Mature Dao Fruit 318 320 A fully mature fruit is equivalent to a complete Origin Great Dao. The Mysterious Bright Treasure Bead obtained four complete Great Daos through this process.
Additional complete Great Dao 456 Bai Yu matured the Yin Yang Dao Fruit with World Origin and integrated it into the Mysterious Bright Treasure Bead, completing its fifth Great Dao.

Cultivator Attainment

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Law mastery — Sixteenth Order 343 Complete control of Origin Laws marks the endpoint of the law path, not mastery of an Origin Great Dao.
Foundation-building — Seventeenth Order onward 261 343 Cultivation strengthens Essence, Qi, and Spirit to make them capable of bearing the Great Dao. Their Three Flowers ultimately gather at the crown.
Initial Great Dao comprehension — Twenty-sixth Order 490 502 The cultivator can bear an Origin Great Dao. Advancement thereafter depends on Great Dao comprehension rather than cultivation techniques.
Seventy-percent comprehension — late Daluo Golden Immortal 689 Hongjun identifies seventy-percent comprehension as the threshold for this stage.
Perfect comprehension and Dao Integration — Thirtieth Order 487 496 The Three Flowers of Essence, Qi, and Spirit unite with the Great Dao to form a Flower of Great Dao. The cultivator becomes a genuine Great Dao controller.
Transcendence 279 670 Lies beyond controlling the Great Dao. Bai Yu does not know an established route to reach it.

Nature

  • Above Origin Laws: Origin Laws operate at the level of individual worlds; the Great Dao is an origin power of the endless heavens 1 68.
  • Independent of local law strength: Origin Laws can be strengthened or suppressed when their users enter another world. The Origin Great Dao instead transcends worlds and is revered throughout them 1.
  • Formless foundation: The Dao is described as the root of all existence and a formless “Nothing” that nurtures every possibility, rather than an empty void 433.
  • No inherently superior Dao: Strength, Water, Space, Destiny, and the other Great Daos have no intrinsic ranking. The reputation of the Strength Dao as the strongest arose from Pangu’s own overwhelming power 45 422.
  • Different comprehension difficulties: Equal status does not mean equal accessibility. Time, Space, Karma, and Destiny are particularly difficult to comprehend 518.
  • Interconnected authorities: Each Dao represents a different underlying authority, but their applications overlap. Broadly, all Three Thousand Great Daos are connected 411 559.
Term Meaning and distinction
Origin Great Dao The Dao itself: the supreme authority and foundation underlying worlds and their laws 433 443.
Origin of the Great Dao The origin associated with Great Dao power. Losing a portion does not necessarily make the Dao itself incomplete, but can permanently damage a world’s or treasure’s foundation 443 495.
Great Dao Principles Understanding and insight into the Dao. These can be recorded and copied without reproducing the Dao’s origin or power 510 513 514.
World Origin The energy used to form matter and sustain a world. It nourishes developing Great Daos, but cannot restore lost origin belonging to a complete Great Dao 49 495.
Heavenly Dao The authority that administers a world. It receives authority over the world from the Origin Great Dao but is not identical to it 433 495.

Cosmological Role

Foundation of Great Thousand Worlds

  • A world carrying even one Origin Great Dao qualifies as a Great Thousand World 15.
  • A Great Dao controller can seize Origin Laws, force them to fuse, and incorporate a mastered Great Dao into a Middle Thousand World to elevate it 15.
  • The number of complete Great Daos affects a world’s strength, foundations, and stability. A top-tier Great Thousand World can overwhelmingly surpass one containing only a minimal number 352 429 712.
  • Complete Great Daos act as stable cornerstones of order. Missing complete Time, Destiny, or Karma Daos can leave their corresponding aspects of a world disordered 712.
  • Even a world possessing all Three Thousand Origin Great Daos remains a Great Thousand World; that alone does not make it the myriad heavens or Greater Heavens 326.

Relationship with Heavenly Dao

  • The Limitless Great Dao gives rise to the Taiji Heavenly Dao: the Dao gives birth to “One,” with Heavenly Dao being that first “One” 433.
  • Heavenly Dao must arise before the world’s heaven, earth, and living beings can be nurtured 433 470.
  • World Origin supplies the energy connecting the Great Dao’s foundation with Heavenly Dao’s operation. Its exhaustion breaks that sustaining connection 433.
  • Once Heavenly Dao is formed, the Great Dao delegates administration of the world to it 433.
  • Heavenly Dao merely controls access to a world’s Great Daos. Unlike a genuine Dao attainer, it has not fused its own Essence, Qi, and Spirit into a Flower of Great Dao 495.

The Primordial World

Pangu established the Primordial World with the forty-nine complete Great Daos he controlled. The fallen Chaos Demon Gods contributed Great Dao origins, which became foundations for developing additional, incomplete Great Daos 443.

The Primordial Heavenly Dao uses cultivators who bear those incomplete Daos to help evolve and perfect them. Until those paths become complete, they cannot independently lead to genuine Dao attainment; affected cultivators must seek another viable Great Dao 409.

  • The Primordial World’s Immortal Dao System incorporates resonance from its forty-nine complete Great Daos, together with resonance from incomplete ones 490.
  • Chaos Demon Gods are born bearing a Great Dao, but do not necessarily possess complete mastery from birth 510 558.
  • A Dao Being is born already controlling a complete Origin Great Dao, giving it a higher innate foundation than a Chaos Demon God 558.

Abilities & Applications

Supremacy over Laws

The Great Dao can override powers restricted to the level of Origin Laws 1 49.

  • A controller can forcibly seize and manipulate Origin Laws without first comprehending them individually 15.
  • Great Dao power can create and suppress things while disregarding ordinary laws and rules 49.
  • Clashes between Great Daos can generate aftershocks capable of annihilating Small Thousand Worlds and Middle Thousand Worlds 113.

Creation and Spatial Authority

Great Dao power supports both world creation and applications beyond a Dao’s apparent specialty 15 421.

  • Space-Time power allows Myriad Worlds City and its shops to expand across separate spacetime dimensions 119.
  • Teleportation is not exclusive to the Space Dao. Other Daos can reach similar results through their own authority; the Time Dao can also enable leaps through time 421.
  • A Great Dao used to establish a Great Thousand World anchors it at a fixed node in the Sea of Chaos. That node becomes its world coordinate 460.
  • A Thirtieth Order being’s Great Dao can retain its world’s imprint, potentially exposing that world’s coordinates during conflict 358.

Flower of Great Dao

A genuine Dao attainer fuses the Great Dao with the Three Flowers of Essence, Qi, and Spirit 487 496.

  • The resulting Flower of Great Dao becomes the attainer’s core, foundation, and source of power 487.
  • Destruction of the physical body and primordial spirit does not prevent resurrection from the Great Dao origins of the heavens 487 637.
  • The Flower protects its fused Great Dao origin from forcible extraction 496.
  • Such beings ordinarily cannot be permanently killed; they can instead be sealed into eternal dormancy. Voluntary Sacrifice Dao is an exception 637.
  • Heavenly Dao Saints do not possess this protection merely by receiving Purple Qi of Hongmeng. Without a true Flower of Great Dao, they can be killed and their Great Dao origin seized 511.

Multiple Great Daos

Compatible Great Daos can reinforce one another rather than create an inherent conflict 487.

  • Space and Time can function independently or together as Space-Time 113 559.
  • The Five Elements Great Dao consists of five distinct Origin Great Daos. Their mutual generation and restraint provide an advantage when mastered together 422.
  • Additional Great Dao origins enrich the principles and power contained in a Flower of Great Dao; related Daos offer stronger mutual nourishment 487.
  • Most Thirtieth Order beings control only one Great Dao. Mastering several requires exceptional opportunities and immense effort 326 358.

Comprehension & Limitations

Requirements

  • Essence, Qi, and Spirit are indispensable vessels. Before Dao attainment, damage to this foundation can prevent further progress. Ancestral Dragon’s permanent loss of his source of essence left him unable to advance 597.
  • Aptitude matters more than elapsed time. Even a million yuanhui of effort may produce no improvement if a cultivator lacks sufficient aptitude 462.
  • Cultivation attainment cannot replace understanding. Increased magic power alone cannot produce Dao attainment when Great Dao comprehension lags behind 670 671.
  • Cultivation techniques reach their endpoint at the Twenty-sixth Order. They prepare a cultivator to bear the Dao, but cannot directly perform the subsequent comprehension for them 490.
  • Genuine attainment has no shortcut. The required path is perfect comprehension followed by Dao attainment. Merit- or fortune-based sainthood grants a different status, not true mastery of an Origin Great Dao 548.

Comprehension Aids

Aid Effect or limit
Jade Plate of Creation Records Great Dao principles and assists understanding. Recorded principles alone do not supply the corresponding Great Dao power 510.
Enlightenment Tea Leaves Aid Great Dao comprehension, but become ineffective after seventy-percent comprehension 582.
Water Origin Fruits Assist comprehension of the Water Dao up to ten percent. Those below Grand Unity Golden Immortal cannot withstand their Great Dao origin 447.
Heavenly Dao Merit Can strengthen Essence, Qi, and Spirit, indirectly improving the foundation for bearing and controlling a Dao; it does not directly raise Dao comprehension 417.
Method of Slaying Three Corpses Clarifies the Dao heart and makes comprehension easier; it does not bypass the need to perfect a Great Dao 548 615.
Direct manifestation Makes an otherwise elusive Dao visible. The manifestation accompanying Bai Yu’s Space Dao attainment greatly benefited other Space Dao cultivators 482.
River of Time Its Great Dao origin aided Bai Yu’s Time Dao comprehension. His Thirtieth Order perspective let him perceive its essence; Candle Dragon obtained only a smaller cultivation benefit 517 518.

Eternal Uniqueness

  • Complete Origin Great Daos and their core authority possess Eternal Uniqueness. They cannot be duplicated into unlimited Great Thousand Worlds or Innate Supreme Treasures 456 457.
  • Using a Dao as a world’s core delegates its unique core authority to that world; the same authority cannot simultaneously support an independently duplicated creation 457.
  • World Origin can nourish nascent or incomplete Great Dao origins, but cannot replace origin permanently lost from a complete Great Dao 495.
  • Loss of origin can leave a complete Dao’s immediate power intact while destroying its host’s future potential. Myriad Worlds City’s damaged origin prevented further development 495.
  • A shattered Great Dao and a lost Great Dao origin are different conditions. The Chat Group retained its origin despite having several complete Daos shattered 495.

Treasures & Grading

Any treasure containing Origin Great Dao power—complete or incomplete—can be called a Great Dao Supreme Treasure 34.

Treasure Grade Great Dao Content
Low-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure One-tenth of an Origin Great Dao 34
Middle-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure Three-tenths of an Origin Great Dao 34
High-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure Five-tenths of an Origin Great Dao 34
Top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure Seven-tenths of an Origin Great Dao 34
Innate Supreme Treasure At least one complete Origin Great Dao 34
  • Both Innate Spiritual Treasures and Innate Supreme Treasures can contain multiple Great Daos 34.
  • Fragments of Chaos Demon Gods’ companion treasures became many of the Primordial World’s Innate Spiritual Treasures 34.
  • The Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, and Chaos Bell originated from the Pangu Axe and each contain multiple complete Great Daos 34.
  • Possession does not guarantee full use: the wielder’s foundation and refinement determine how much Great Dao power can be released 51 437.
  • Unlike Dao attainers, suppressed Great Dao treasures can have their Great Dao origin extracted, destroying them 495 496.
