Background / History

Yan Fuhai was the former emperor of Great Qian and father of the reigning Emperor Yan Shuzhu. After emerging from seclusion, he publicly accepted the title of Grand Emperor and acted amiably, even allowing Yan Shuzhu to remain on the throne. This demeanor was a façade: he had concealed both his Land Immortal cultivation and his intention to retake imperial power once his Luck Backlash subsided. 179 180

His breakthrough was tied to a treasure capable of drawing upon Great Qian's luck. The resulting Luck Backlash left him unable to use his power freely, forcing him to recover in seclusion and rely heavily on Wei Hongfang and palace subordinates. 204 205 230

Yan Fuhai regarded Yan Shuzhu as a cultivationally powerless puppet and intended to reclaim direct control of Great Qian. He also considered recruiting Ye Liuyun as a future conqueror who could expand Great Qian's territory, while privately treating Fu Zhengqing as a dangerous rival to be removed. 184 218

During the Autumn Hunt, Yan Fuhai allowed Prince An Yan Jiang's rebellion to unfold before revealing his Land Immortal strength.
