Couldn't you broaden your horizons somewhere else? Did you really have to show up here at a time like this? Only a fool would believe you weren't here for Gryphon's legacy!
I never should have taken his money! Fliyou regretted it deeply. However, he selectively forgot that he had been half-coerced into it. If he hadn't brought Higashino Kanade in, Higashino Kanade would likely have used ninja methods to obtain an invitation.
"Get out here! What kind of nonsense is taking money without doing the job? Give me a refund!"
Higashino Kanade dragged Fliyou out by his robe. Though Higashino Kanade was small and thin, his strength was truly astonishing.
"Is that so, astrologer Fliyouga?" Adashino Riri looked at him.
Orlok, standing beside her, also fixed him with a sinister gaze that seemed to say, Say one wrong word and I'll kill you.
"N-No..."
Fliyou wanted to deny it, but Higashino Kanade grabbed his collar and yanked him down to eye level. Staring at him with murderous Sharingan eyes, he said, "Don't be afraid of that old man. He may be a little scary, but am I not scary too?"
Under the combined effect of Akatsuki's Red Cloud Robe and the Sharingan, Higashino Kanade's presence was elevated to absurd heights. Frightened by him, Fliyou immediately caved.
"He's my servant."
"Is that so? If he's Fliyou's servant, then there's no problem. Everyone, disperse."
Adashino Riri did not pursue the matter and left. Orlok gave an unhappy snort before his servant pushed him away.
Heine invited Jirobou Seigen Shitou for tea. The exhausted Lord El-Melloi II took his disciple to search for their room so they could rest. Luvia gave Higashino Kanade an interested glance before leaving with her bodyguards.
Only Fliyou, who had collapsed on the floor in terror, and Higashino Kanade remained.
"It's over. That old bastard will probably find a chance to kill me. I just wanted to make some money. Why is it so hard?" Fliyou looked utterly miserable.
Higashino Kanade patted Fliyou's back and comforted him. "Have some confidence. That old man will definitely kill you."
"Are you sure you're just a teenager and not a devil?"
"Devils don't give you money. Employers do." Higashino Kanade tossed him a fairly high-quality Diamond, then said as he walked away, "Take it. I don't owe you anything now."

34. They're Three Times Shiki's Size!
Fliyou clearly had not expected to offend so many people because of Higashino Kanade. Still, he had indeed drawn the heat for Higashino Kanade, so out of humanitarian concern, Higashino Kanade gave him compensation.
However, Higashino Kanade's relationship with Fliyou ended there. Just as Heine had said, Fliyou was a mercenary with no bottom line. When Higashino Kanade was being questioned, he ran faster than anyone else. Working with him was no different from seeking the tiger's skin. Higashino Kanade needed a new teammate.
Why did he need a new teammate? Because of that damned temporary mission.
The mission, Truth of the Legacy, required Higashino Kanade to uncover the truth behind Gryphon's legacy. To obtain that truth, he had to get involved in the struggle for the legacy. To seize it, he had to answer the three questions Gryphon had left behind—and Higashino Kanade did not understand a single one!
Higashino Kanade had only been reincarnated in the Nasuverse for a little over a month. He knew nothing whatsoever about magecraft. It was like asking an illiterate person to solve university-level questions. How could he possibly do it?
Still, it was not as though Higashino Kanade had no solution. He decided to take the old route and live off others... no! This time, he was going to cling to someone powerful.
Though he had forgotten the plot completely and had no idea what secrets Stripped City held or what Gryphon's legacy was, he knew that Waver, as the protagonist of this incident, would definitely solve everything. So he decided to build a good relationship with Waver and coast through the whole thing.
Coasting to victory was admittedly rather spineless, but why carry when you could freeload? For a lazy person like Higashino Kanade, there was nothing wrong with being an ordinary second male lead. Clinging to someone powerful to clear the stage was nothing to be ashamed of!
From the reflective object on him earlier, I saw that the word on his invitation was probably Mihael. Now that I've found the room number, I can go discuss cooperation with him. If I reveal a little about the Fourth Holy Grail War and the future Fifth Holy Grail War, he should be very willing to let me join. After that, it may even be possible to get into the Clock Tower through his recommendation.
Calculating this in his heart, Higashino Kanade went upstairs and arrived at the corridor of rooms where everyone was staying on the second floor.
After examining many room numbers he could not understand, Higashino Kanade stopped in front of a room marked "Michael."
"The door isn't locked?"
Higashino Kanade pushed the door open in confusion and entered. What greeted him was not Waver and his disciple, but Luvia in pajamas, hugging a puppy plushie.
Luvia looked very relaxed. Her pajama top was open, revealing a lace bra struggling to contain her massive, sexy breasts. She wore only the upper half of the pajamas, leaving her round, slender legs exposed.
When she saw Higashino Kanade enter, Luvia pointed at him in panic and demanded angrily, "W-W-W-W... why did you enter my room?!"
"Wow! They're huge! At least three times Shiki's size!"
Higashino Kanade froze when he saw Luvia, inwardly marveling at the vastness of her bosom.
But after marveling for a moment, Higashino Kanade fell into deep confusion.
Why was Luvia in pajamas inside Waver's room when he had clearly entered Waver's room?
Was the Mana bullet forming in Luvia's hand meant to kill him?
At this critical moment, Higashino Kanade understood.
All he had to do now was act like an innocent child who knew nothing. No one would hold it against a child.
As for why, don't ask. He learned it from Conan.
Higashino Kanade's acting kicked in. His big, adorable eyes filled with confusion as he spoke without a trace of the impure thoughts an adult would have. "Huh? Did I enter the wrong room? Sorry, pretty Big Sister. I'll leave right away."
It had to be said that Higashino Kanade calling her "pretty Big Sister" was quite lethal. His godlike looks were right there, after all. Being praised as pretty by a beautiful boy was an immensely flattering thing.
It was like being called a handsome man by people around you every day, only to have Yang Chaoyue call you a handsome man while you were walking down the street one day. Which one would hit harder went without saying.
"Pretty Big Sister?" Luvia paused, then realized he was referring to her. Her face immediately reddened in embarrassment, and her heart felt as sweet as honey.
"Since you entered by accident, there's nothing to be done about it. As a lady, I forgive you. Remember to knock before entering a lady's room next time, cute little brother."
Luvia buttoned up her pajamas, walked over to Higashino Kanade, and reached out to stroke his soft, smooth hair.
"Okay, pretty Big Sister."
"Ah! How is this child so good with words?" Luvia's heart took a critical hit, and her favorability toward Higashino Kanade rose dramatically.
Watching Luvia look as though she was about to bloom into a smile, Higashino Kanade sighed inwardly in relief. He had survived another crisis.
"Grea, are you sure this is the room?"
"Yes, Master. The name on the door is the same as on the invitation."
At that moment, Waver and Grea's voices came from outside the door. The next instant, master and disciple entered and saw Luvia stroking Higashino Kanade's head.
An unprecedented killing intent erupted from Luvia. She pointed at Waver, and a dark-red Gandr bullet had already formed at her fingertip.
If an ordinary Magus used a cursed Mana bullet like Gandr, the person hit would become weak and ill for several days. But as a Finn, Luvia's Gandr was at master level. A direct hit could immediately stop the victim's heart and kill them. After all, practicing Gandr was a tradition among Finnish magi—a rather problematic hobby.
"You dare barge into my room without permission. Are you trying to declare war on me, Lord El-Melloi II?!"
Luvia's gaze was as piercing as an arctic wind. Waver nervously pinched the bridge of his nose, desperately trying to think of a solution.
"Wait, madam. I think there may be some misunderstanding here."
"Are you saying you entered the wrong room too?"
"Too?"
Waver looked past Luvia at Higashino Kanade. Higashino Kanade smiled and waved at him, looking completely harmless.
"Wait, madam. This is the word for my angelic name. It really is this room."
To save himself, Waver hurriedly pulled out his invitation. The word "Mihael" was clearly displayed on it.
"...So that's it."
Luvia examined Waver's invitation, then looked at her own and immediately spotted the problem.
"Your angelic name is Mihael, while mine is Michael. There's only one C between them."
"Ah! I'm sorry, I got it wrong."
Grea, as though she had been called out by name, began apologizing frantically. "I'm sorry, Master. I got it wrong."
"So, madam, we did not mean to intrude. We deeply apologize for troubling you. Grea, let's go."
With the misunderstanding cleared up, Waver hurriedly tried to take Grea and escape. But Luvia's aura began rising steadily, and terrifying Mana fluctuations started affecting the entire room.
"Do you take my room for a shopping mall? Do you think you can come and go whenever you please? After seeing me like this, have you prepared yourself to have your eyes dug out?"

35. Cooperation with Waver
It had to be said that the gap between people was sometimes greater than the gap between people and pigs.
Both had accidentally entered a young woman's bedroom. Higashino Kanade easily defused a crisis with his pretty face, while Waver had to face the soul-searching question of whether to leave behind his life or his eyeballs.
At this moment of life and death, Waver had a flash of inspiration and shouted, "Wait! It's Kabbalah! The angels' names correspond to the Kabbalah system and appear among the names of the seventy-two angels!"
Luvia's eyes lit up. The Mana bullet at her fingertip stopped growing, signaling him to continue.
"In ancient texts, the archangel Michael appears many times, but Mihael is rarely seen. The only possibility for both to appear together is Kabbalah—Shemamphorae."
Luvia fell silent in thought for a moment, then fired the Mana bullet in her hand.
The next instant, Waver was knocked to the ground. Grea hurriedly supported him, her face full of panic. "Master, are you all right?"
"I'm fine, Grea. It's only a small lesson."
At Waver's heart, his clothes had been burned through, leaving a hole. He himself was unharmed, but what pained him was that he had saved several months' salary to buy that black shirt, and now it was ruined.
"Listen carefully, El-Melloi II. If you ever behave so barbarically again, then be prepared to have your heart scorched along with everything else!" Luvia warned him without the slightest restraint.
Waver did not make any threats. He merely nodded awkwardly and was helped out by Grea.
Though Waver was a Lord at the pinnacle of the Clock Tower, his personal magecraft could only be considered second-rate. His talent was terrible. In his own words, "No matter who I fight, I'll be the one who dies in the end." The only thing he could truly boast about was his teaching ability.
After Waver and Grea left, Luvia sighed in relief and looked toward Higashino Kanade.
"Huh? Where did he go?"
Higashino Kanade, who should have been standing behind Luvia, had vanished at some point.
Outside the room's window, Higashino Kanade clung to the castle wall with Chakra and crawled away from this troublesome place like Spider-Man.
"Master, are you all right?"
Having found their actual room, Waver lay exhausted on the sofa. Grea hurriedly poured him a glass of water and asked with concern.
"I'm fine. Compared to ruining one piece of clothing, getting my life back is already quite good." Waver replied wearily, "The Edelfelt Family truly is a pack of hyenas. If we don't give her enough information to satisfy her, she'll never let us leave."
"I'm sorry, Master. It was because I read the name wrong that things turned out this way."
Grea lowered her head like a little bird, intense guilt written all over her face.
Waver did not comfort her. Instead, he sternly rebuked her. "Don't blame yourself! Remember this incident! Entering another Magus's territory without warning is equivalent to declaring war. Grea, I hope you remember this lesson."
"Yes, Master!" Grea nodded solemnly and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes.
"What a touching display of affection between master and disciple!"
"Who said that?!"
An unfamiliar voice entered the room. Waver leapt up from the sofa, while Grea took out a cage containing a small cube. Both of them prepared for battle.
"Relax. I'm not here to fight."
Higashino Kanade knocked on the window, and only then did master and disciple realize that the intruder was outside the room.
Higashino Kanade hung from the wall with one hand, his whole body suspended halfway outside the window.
Grea asked Waver what they should do. Waver calmly walked to the window and opened it.
Higashino Kanade jumped into the room, then unceremoniously sat on the sofa. He wore the exhausted expression of an office worker about to die from overtime.
"What a hassle. That acting almost exhausted me to death. When will my hard days finally end?"
The complaints coming from Higashino Kanade's mouth were strikingly at odds with his twelve-year-old appearance. For a moment, Waver even felt that the person sitting there was not a child, but himself.
"Add, his expression looks just like Master's!"
Grea quietly spoke to the cube in the cage in her hands. Higashino Kanade glanced at her, frightening her into hurriedly hiding the cage inside her cloak.
Is he an old monster wearing the skin of a child?
After considering it briefly, Waver dismissed the thought.
For magi, prolonging one's life was not difficult. Living two or three hundred years was no problem at all.
But while the decay of the body could be avoided, the decay of the soul could not.
As people aged, whether ordinary people or magi, their souls would inevitably decay. That deterioration would affect the body as well.
The older one became, the more decayed the soul became, and the faster the body would deteriorate. It would force one to change bodies with greater and greater frequency. To escape that situation, one would have to transcend humanity and transform oneself into a Phantasmal Species or a Dead Apostle.
