Carl Squad Assembles

"Seriously, the roads to this base were awful—nothing but ruins. No wonder the freight vehicles stopped halfway and let Hansen's people recover the goods. If you weren't transporting things by hand here, you could only rely on hovercars."

Even after delivering everything, V was still sighing over the terrible road conditions.

"If a hovercar came roaring in, half of Dogtown would know something was off here. That wouldn't suit Hansen's cautious nature at all."

Carl smiled, then clicked his tongue in surprise as he looked over the Dogtown Scavengers' gear V had brought. "There's quite a lot of good stuff if you look closely. They even had a Nekomata."

"I heard the Scavengers in Dogtown often got their hands on Hansen's supplies. Besides, weapons are practically Dogtown's local specialty, so this isn't all that strange."

As she spoke, Oliver picked up the Nekomata and began adjusting it. "Perfect. Our weapons haven't arrived yet, so I'll use this for now."

"They should be here soon. I'm guessing any moment now."

As Carl spoke, he used the base's external concealed cameras to check the situation outside.

To disguise themselves as Barghest personnel, Carl and the others had not carried the powerful weapons they were known for. They had been using standard Barghest equipment instead. But now that things had stabilized, they naturally needed their usual gear close at hand, so Carl had asked someone with free time to go home and bring it over.

Before long, a dog carrying a huge bundle appeared in view.

"I'm exhausted from running! Why didn't you have V bring this along on the way? It's a whole damn bundle, and more than half of it is your weapon mods, Carl. Are you trying to work me to death?"

Johnny complained as he entered the core control
