Anton actually had no shortage of magical material. There were still plenty of books in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry library that he hadn't read, along with the family collection Sirius had given him. Nicolas Flamel was born in 1330. In his youth, he mastered Latin and Greek, and was skilled in calligraphy and copying manuscripts. He made his living in Paris by selling books and copying texts. He also took on students, teaching them to copy manuscripts and draw illustrations.

His unremarkable life took a dramatic turn one night when an angel appeared in his dream and told him that he would receive a magical book. If he studied it diligently and came to understand it thoroughly, he would gain extraordinary and astonishing powers.

The dream came true. He traded two florins for the ancient book, The Book of Abraham the Jew.

It was made from the smooth, delicate bark of a young tree. The cover was tightly bound in brass and covered with writing
