Background

Hiruko secretly developed the Chimera Technique after refusing to remain ordinary. The technique was discovered by the Third Hokage, forcing Hiruko to flee Konoha and continue his research elsewhere 317.

Obito and Black Zetsu sought Hiruko out because the technique could potentially create a powerful ally by stealing Kekkei Genkai. Hiruko accepted their offer of captured bloodline users, promising that they would witness the creation of a “perfect ninja” 259 261.

The ritual could only be performed during a Golden Ring Eclipse. Hiruko initially wanted two Sharingan, believing one eye would barely complete the ritual and produce an inferior result; after the Uchiha recalled their Three-Tomoe users, Obito instead planned to provide one Sharingan while using it to control Hiruko 289.

During the eclipse, the Chimera enveloped and digested four captured Kekkei Genkai users. Their powers, chakra, and soul fragments were fused into Hiruko, whose original body was destroyed and rebuilt from the Chimera's white gelatinous matter 315 316.

Manifestation

The Chimera manifests as translucent or gray-white jelly with plant-like behavior. During Hiruko's completed ritual, it reduced him to a demon-faced bud before rebuilding his bones, organs, muscles, skin, and eyes.
