History

Spirit Sealing Grotto-Heaven Ruins

Little Black first appeared as a fearful, amorphous black energy within Shen Yi. After Shen Yi pressured it into communicating, it revealed the location of a hidden mechanism and led him to the skull banner that activated the ruins' teleportation arrays. Shen Yi named it “Little Black”; it protested against the name but quickly became attached to him. 27

In the Death Gate, Little Black helped Shen Yi defeat a Foundation Establishment Corpse Puppet by absorbing and digesting its energy. It then indicated that the puppet's war spear could be fused into the Coiled Dragon Halberd, producing a high-grade spirit artifact. 28

While Shen Yi cultivated through the Five Elements regions, Little Black absorbed Five Elements Qi and increasingly resembled a living creature rather than mere death energy. Shen Yi resolved to nurture it into a true being. 29

Yunluo Mountain Range and Hatching

Little Black fearlessly slipped through a gathering of high-tier demonic beasts to investigate a sacred beast egg, even taking bites from it. It later led Shen Yi to a secluded hut, an icy crystal pool, and a hidden sacred mountain guarded by statues of the Twelve Fierce Beasts. 32 33

Inside the mountain's palace, Little Black absorbed a deadly gust of wind that would have struck Shen Yi, then claimed a beast bone from the throne. Its aura surpassed Shen Yi's after this opportunity, and it later entered a rune-inscribed King’s Eggshell obtained through the simulator. 33 34

During the beast tide at Ninghai City, Little Black hatched from the Rune Egg as a King-level young beast. It openly chose Shen Yi over Qiongqi, who sought to reclaim the Royal Beast for the demon race. 37

Demon Race and West Sea

Qiongqi personally trained Little Black and regarded him as vital to the demon race's future. Kui acknowledged that Little Black's strength was nearing that of a seventh-tier ferocious beast, while Qiongqi argued that the Imperial Beast needed to experience the Great Era of Contention alongside Shen Yi rather than remain sheltered. 66

On Immortal Island, Little Black followed the Candle Dragon's remains into the Forbidden Zone of Life. Immune to the zone's curse through his Demon Emperor bloodline, he killed the Candle Dragon, devoured its soul and memories, refined its immortal reverse scale, and gained the Candle Dragon's divine abilities. 130

Supreme Hall and East Sea

Following Supreme Hall's creation, Little Black became one of its most active members, assisting Feng Yang and integrating with the first generation of disciples. After a year, he had reached the Nascent Soul realm and kept Shen Yi informed of the sect's affairs. 160

In the East Sea's demon-race selection, Little Black exposed his Dragon Transformation Technique and absorbed a purple-qi celestial phenomenon, earning the fear of competing prodigies and the attention of Kui Niu. He and Shen Yi subsequently secured places in the Myriad Races Competition. 201 202

When the Yunluo Demon Race lost contact with Qiongqi, Little Black sought Shen Yi's aid. During the return to Huafeng Prefecture, he and Little Red effortlessly defeated two Nascent Soul city lords sent by the Azure Cloud Sect. 228 229

Little Black has no fixed appearance and can shift between energy, beast, human, and dragon forms.

Little Black is innocent, curious, and highly playful. In his early days as black energy, he responded eagerly to Shen Yi's touch, explored dangerous places without hesitation, and reacted sulkily to the name Shen Yi gave him. 27 32

His attachment to Shen Yi is unwavering. He repeatedly places himself in danger to protect him, becomes distressed when Shen Yi is injured, and abandons his imposing demeanor when reunited with him. 37 66 104 130

He also has a mischievous, greedy streak. He took bites from a sacred beast egg, intended to roast and eat the Phoenix Egg, and later joined Little Red in consuming Hong Ling's spirit plants during cultivation. 32 190 219
