Background & History
Ancient Supreme Hall
The name “Supreme Hall” is first heard as a murmur from within the bronze coffin alongside the Sacred Emperor Scripture. Shen Yi later confirms that the legendary palace exists when it descends in the West Sea 39 118.
The original Supreme Hall is an immense, desolate ancient palace containing its own world, possibly the transformed inner world of an immortal. Its entrance is protected by a law barrier that admits only a “young supreme”; cultivators unable to pass it are killed when attempting to force entry 118.
Within the palace, Shen Yi finds the diminished Jade Pool, the Nine Heavens Dragon Gate, and a stone forest containing cultivation-method imprints. One carving preserves the Western Empress Scripture, which Shen Yi obtains to complete the Indestructible Scripture 118 119.
Foundation of the Sect
After learning of Zhou Chen’s role in the Sword Pavilion tragedy, Shen Yi proposes founding a new sect capable of rivaling the Azure Cloud Sect. He names it the Supreme Hall in honor of the ancient palace and its inheritance; Three Thousand Demons, Yu Chen, Sikong Guxing, Wu Liujian, and the others agree 151.
The sect is built near Changfeng Town despite the area’s initially sparse spiritual energy. Shen Yi and his allies choose the site partly because the nearby bronze coffin protects the town, while Qiongqi and Kui can potentially improve the terrain 151.
The Supreme Hall is formally established on the first day of September. Its mountain gate leads through carved buildings and a jade plaza to a cloud-shrouded central palace 156.
Early Expansion
The founding ceremony attracts cultivators and major powers. Jiang Tianzheng delivers two Evil-Slaying Stone Lions on behalf of the Qianyuan Dynasty, while Yuwen Yue presents a Mountain Suppressing Stone 156.
Qiongqi intervenes against Azure Cloud Sect aggressors and gifts the sect a spiritual vein, transforming the cultivation environment of its grounds 158. The sect survives its founding-day conflict with the Azure Cloud Sect and the Later Zhou royal family, establishing itself as a force willing to oppose both 156 157 158.
After one year, the Supreme Hall has secured a foothold in Huafeng Prefecture. Its original ten disciples are cultivated under Feng Yang’s guidance, while Shen Yi focuses on improving the sect’s resources and strength 160.
Grounds & Defenses
- Central palace and jade plaza — The sect’s main compound rises from the mountain gate through a broad jade plaza to a grand central hall amid the clouds 156.
- Spiritual vein — Gifted by Qiongqi during the sect’s founding crisis; it greatly improves the spiritual aura of the grounds 158.
- Spirit Transformation Pool — Shen Yi plans and supplies a pool linked to the spiritual veins using spirit herbs and Spiritual Liquid 160.
- Evil-Slaying Stone Lions — Two ten-foot golden stone lions placed at the mountain gate by Jiang Tianzheng 156.
- Four Spirits Great Array — A formation capable of manifesting the Azure Dragon, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, and White Tiger across the Supreme Hall’s territory 266.
- Renovated fortifications — Following the destruction of the Azure Cloud Sect, Three Thousand Demons invests the captured resources into turning the Supreme Hall into an impregnable fortress 243.
- Border security — Hostile forces attempting to encroach on its territory are executed by Three Thousand Demons; their heads are displayed at the border as a warning 279.

Recruitment Philosophy
The Supreme Hall initially follows an elite-focused model: it rejects applicants of poor character and those who are not exceptional talents. Feng Yang selects only ten first-generation disciples, reflecting Shen Yi’s belief that cultivating one outstanding disciple is preferable to cultivating a thousand ordinary ones 159 160.
As its territory expands, Shen Yi broadens recruitment. Anyone with virtue and talent—whether skilled in civil or military matters—may enter after assessment. Recruits serve locally for three years; those approved by the populace become true disciples and receive cultivation resources 299.
- The policy draws tens of thousands of applications within half a month 299.
- More than ten thousand qualified recruits become registered disciples within several months and are assigned to regional administration after training 299.
- The sect later accepts the Kui Niu Tribe and Yaksha Tribe, strengthening its cultivator forces and territorial defenses 299 300.
Major Arcs
Conflict with the Azure Cloud Sect and Later Zhou
The Azure Cloud Sect and Zhou Chen attempt to destroy the Supreme Hall from its founding day onward. The sect withstands the Azure Cloud Sect’s killing array with the help of Wu Liujian, Three Thousand Demons, Wang Teng, and Chu Feng 156 157.
After Qingyunzi of the Azure Cloud Sect reaches Deity Transformation, Shen Yi lures him toward Supreme Hall territory. The bronze coffin intervenes, binds Qingyunzi with chains, and kills him, removing a major threat to the sect 239 240.
The Azure Cloud Sect later attacks again with a major portion of its high-level forces, only to discover that the Supreme Hall possesses more than ten Nascent Soul cultivators 234.
Defense Against Sect Alliances
Tianxuan Academy, Tianyi Immortal Academy, and other sects seek to either recruit, annex, or force the Supreme Hall into a conflict over a rumored immortal treasure. When Tianxuan Academy declares war, Shen Yi’s side faces Deity Transformation cultivators Qian Duo and Ling Feixing 264 265.
Shen Yi activates the Four Spirits Great Array and uses his inner world to seize Qian Duo’s magical treasures, defending the sect from the combined assault 265 266.
By this period, the Supreme Hall possesses thirteen Nascent Soul cultivators and is protected by the Four Spirits Great Array. Its territory becomes a refuge within a thousand-mile radius, largely untouched by the surrounding wars 269.
Pacification Campaigns
The Supreme Hall launches a major campaign into the former Later Zhou lands. Within six months, its three armies conquer half of the territory; Chu Feng’s contingent retakes the southwest after capturing thirty cities and towns 299.
The sect’s forces eventually exceed one million battle-tested soldiers. Its territory grows to encompass half of the old lands and a population of tens of millions, requiring the expanded recruitment policy to address a shortage of administrators 299.
Shen Yi personally leads fifty thousand troops and elite disciples against Mie Que City in Xin Zhou. Although the city’s defenses initially hold, the campaign exposes the East Sea Ancient Clan’s infiltration of the continent 301 302.
Unification of the Mortal World
Following Shen Yi’s return from the Upper Realm, the Supreme Hall defeats the East Sea Ancient Clan, conquers New Zhou, and prepares its final offensive against Former Qin 306 309.
Five years after its foundation, the Supreme Hall helps unify the mortal world and becomes its foremost sect. Shen Yi declines the title of emperor and instead entrusts governance to Li Yue, whose years of service managing the sect’s affairs make him the collective choice 311.
