Background / History

Dongfang Xuan is a transmigrator who takes the name and will of a dying white-haired youth. He is sent to the Douluo Continent, arriving in Sacred Soul Village alongside Tang Hao and the infant Tang San. 1

He displays unusual maturity from an early age: he can speak at one, begins planning his future at two, and helps villagers repair homes and cultivate fields at three. Although he earns the villagers' affection, he worries that Tang Hao may be watching him and decides he must leave to seek strength. 1

At four, Dongfang Xuan leaves Sacred Soul Village and travels to Star Luo Imperial City. After his travel funds are exhausted, he builds a business network by sharing recipes and forming profit-sharing partnerships with small shops. His agreements require merchants to devote part of their earnings to employing unemployed civilians. 1

His discretion prevents the Dai and Zhu families from identifying him as the young business prodigy operating in the city. After Zhu family members discover him while posing as merchants, he spends half a year secretly under their protection, earning the household's trust. Before leaving, he promises Zhu Zhuqing and Zhu Zhuyun that he will one day break the rules binding them. 1

At five, Dongfang Xuan expands his partnerships into Heaven Dou City. After being attacked by three Soul Ancestors, he is rescued by Qian Renxue, who reveals her Xue Qinghe disguise to him and gives him shelter for the night. Dongfang Xuan is resourceful, ambitious, and unusually composed for his age. He combines modern business knowledge with a genuine desire to improve the lives of struggling civilians, repeatedly insisting that his business partners hire unemployed people rather than retain all profits for themselves. 1 2

He is cautious about the dangers of the Douluo Continent and does not trust kindness without question. After Qian Renxue saves him, he directly asks why she did not kill him to protect her secret, explaining that he wants to earn her trust but cannot easily understand why she trusts him. 4

Despite this caution, he is compassionate and playful around people he likes. He comforts Ning Rongrong when she cries, refuses her monetary reward, and tells her that she looks better when she smiles. 4
