Disaster of the Nuogua

The rise and fall of the Righteous Lizardman civilization over hundreds of years, and their struggle to survive in desperate straits, were reduced to only a few passages from Hisoka.

Lu Yao thought of what the Kitchen God Ding Hanzhen had said.

The cruelty of the Border Zone was even worse than he had expected.

Hisoka had endured countless hardships to come knocking, and it made Lu Yao change his original hands-off attitude toward the Righteous Lizardmen. It seemed this model was not suited to the Border Zone.

He had to strengthen them as soon as possible and give them the ability to protect themselves.

Problems had to be solved one at a time.

First, he would deal with the most immediate threat: the Nuogua.

"Almighty Queen Mother of the West, your follower, Hisoka, thanks you for your Blessing! I will work hard to learn how to become an outstanding Apostle!"

The Lizardman lay prostrate on the ground.

Writing appeared above his head: "The Nuogua are a powerful kind of Void Creature. Their race specializes in hunting Gods, God-born, and Kinfolk. By devouring individuals or derivatives that possess Divine Might, they complete their own power and grow rapidly. If they want to transform into the next stage, the Great Nuo, they must obtain the aura of a god from other individuals..."

The defining trait of a Nuogua was that they grew a Nuo mask, which symbolized their power. Only one that possessed a Nuo mask was considered an adult. Otherwise, they were still juveniles unable to leave their world, and needed to keep growing before they could break through the boundary.

Different Nuogua had completely different Nuo masks, as well as core abilities beneath those masks. These abilities were formed from the Divine Might they gathered through hunting and ingestion.
