"Hello, Aragog. My name is Amosta Breen. Just as Hagrid said, I am a professor at Hogwarts, and I also hold the position of—"
"Leave my territory, stranger. Leave at once. I will tell you nothing!"
Amosta's introduction had not even finished before Aragog roughly cut him off. The spider waved its massive pincers with all its might and threatened in a deep voice,
"For Hagrid's sake, I will give you one chance to leave!"
The swarm of little spiders dozens of feet away could barely restrain their bloodthirsty urges any longer. They closed in tighter, restlessly scraping at the dirt with their slender legs. Their emerald compound eyes blinked rapidly, while their vicious mouthparts opened and snapped shut again and again, as though already rehearsing the chewing of the frail human flesh beside Hagrid.
Watching the agitated spiders surrounding them, Amosta's eyelids twitched, and he no longer looked quite as pleased as before.
"Let's go back, Professor Breen," Hagrid said, blinking anxiously. "Aragog and his descendants don't like living people. In all these years, I've never brought anyone here!"
Amosta did not move. Rarely did he get an opportunity to glimpse the truth, so how could he yield so easily? To be honest, he somewhat regretted having Hagrid bring him here. If he had come alone, perhaps communication with these Acromantulas would have gone more smoothly.
"I respect you, Hagrid—" Aragog circled within the hemispherical web at the center of the crater. "My children obey my commands and never harm you. But it is difficult for me to stop them from enjoying fresh human flesh delivered to their doorstep. Hagrid, if your friend does not leave soon, I'm afraid you will have to walk back to the castle alone!"
