Background / History
Rise of the Demon Heavenly Court
Di Jun and his younger brother Emperor Taiyi led the Demon Clan from the Demon Heavenly Court. Although Di Jun was regarded as its foremost ruler, Taiyi's combat strength was considered greater, owing in part to the Chaos Bell 37.
The clan sought to absorb powerful races into its hierarchy. Demon God Fei Dan offered Niu Ben the position of a third Demon Emperor, equal to Di Jun and Taiyi, if he brought the Ox Clan into the Demon Heavenly Court; Niu Ben refused 102.
Nüwa's attainment of Sainthood was celebrated as a decisive advantage for the Demon Clan, whose members believed it would enable them to dominate the Primordial Wilderness 107. However, the Heavenly Dao restricted Saints from readily intervening in ordinary Primordial affairs, preventing the clan from simply using Nüwa to eliminate its rivals 145.
Purple Mansion campaign
Niu Ben temporarily allied with the Demon Clan to destroy East Prince Gong's Purple Mansion Immortal Court. Di Jun accepted the proposal and delayed the strike for a thousand years of preparation 117. The ensuing war inflicted heavy casualties on both sides, while Jieyin and Zhunti abandoned the Purple Mansion and fled west with many living beings 121.
The victory encouraged the Demon Clan's goal of becoming the common ruler of heaven and earth. Its principal obstacle became the Wu Clan, whose control of the land rivaled the Demon Clan's authority over the heavens 127.
Attempted subjugation of the Dragon Clan
Rather than immediately attack the Wu Clan, Di Jun sent an army against the Four Seas Dragon Clan. He sought the Dragon Clan's remaining Fortune, believing it could help him advance to a higher realm 173 174.
Three Demon Gods led one million Demon Soldiers to the East Sea and issued the Dragon Clan an ultimatum: submit, surrender its Fortune, and become vassals, or be erased 175. The campaign initially overwhelmed the dragons, especially after Taiyi arrived with the Eastern Emperor Bell and suppressed the Azure Dragon and the Four Seas Dragon Kings 179 180.
Chan and Jie Teachings disciples intervened for the Dragon Clan, and Niu Ben eventually forced Taiyi back. The Demon Clan suffered severe losses without conquering the Four Seas 178 200.
War with the Wu Clan and the Human Race
The Demon Clan struggled against the Wu Clan because ordinary treasures could not pierce Wu bodies; only Innate Spiritual Treasures could reliably harm them 250. Leize Demon King discovered that a Houtian Spiritual Treasure strengthened with human blood could penetrate a Wu captive's flesh 251.
Di Jun used this discovery to justify attacking the Human Race and harvesting human essence blood for weapons intended to kill the Wu Clan 252 253. Huang Tian later revealed the massacres, blood extraction, and soul refinement to the Primordial Wilderness, exposing the purpose of the Demon Clan's Slaying Witch Weapons 289.
The clan continued refining these weapons while preparing for a decisive war against the Wu Clan 301. Its ten Little Golden Crows later descended into the lower realm and attacked a Wu tribe with True Sun Fire, further escalating the conflict 353.
Internal fracture and decline
Di Jun and Taiyi forcibly seized Heavenly Dao Merit from Demon Master Kunpeng after he created Demon Script. Kunpeng renounced the Demon Clan and joined the Western Teachings, becoming the Third Buddha of the West 352. Di Jun and Taiyi subsequently led the Demon Army against Kunpeng's Northern Darkness Palace 319.
Di Jun later publicly declared that he had refined a Saint Crystal and attained Sainthood, then ordered the Yao Race to prepare a grand celebration meant to recruit further Great Powers before another war with the Wu Clan 440.
An isolated group of Demon Kings guarding Xing Tian's sealed head remained unaware of later events for ages. Yang Jian informed them that Di Jun and Taiyi were dead, the Demon Heavenly Court had fallen, and Haotian ruled the Three Realms 676.

Military Strength and Resources
- Demon Soldiers — The clan could deploy armies on the scale of one million troops, as seen during the invasion of the Four Seas 175.
- Great Formation of the Stars of the Heavens — A major Demon Clan formation used during the Wu-Demon conflict; its ancient barrier later concealed a valley where Xing Tian's head was sealed 370 676.
- Chaos Bell — Taiyi's Innate Supreme Treasure, capable of suppressing time and space and devastating large battlefields 37 179.
- River Diagram and Luo Script — Di Jun's treasures, used to evolve a heavenly star chart and defend against an otherworldly Demon God 621 781.
- Slaying Witch Weapons — Weapons forged with human essence blood to overcome the Wu Clan's physical defenses 251 301.
- Innate Spiritual Treasures — The clan agreed to transfer the Star Sword, Sun Essence Wheel, and Mountains and Rivers Seal to the Western Teachings as the price of an alliance; Dijiang, Zhu Rong, and Gong Gong intercepted them en route 759 773.
Alliance with the Western Teachings
Facing competition from the Wu Clan, Mystic Gate, Niu Ben, and Demon Ancestor Luohu for two Heavenly Dao Saint Positions, Bai Ze proposed an alliance with the Western Teachings 755.
Di Jun personally traveled to Mount Sumeru and offered to concentrate Demon Clan points on Taiyi, while allowing the Western Teachings to pursue the second Saint Position 757. Jieyin and Zhunti agreed only after demanding three Innate Spiritual Treasures regardless of the alliance's outcome 758.
Di Jun accepted the demand to secure a path for Taiyi's Sainthood and swore a Heavenly Dao oath with Jieyin and Zhunti. The arrangement bound the Demon Clan and Western Teachings together despite their mutual distrust 758.
The promised treasures were stolen by the Wu Clan on Niu Ben's orders, humiliating Di Jun and threatening the alliance before it could bear fruit 766 773 774.
Otherworldly Invasion
An otherworldly spatial passage opened directly above the Yao Realm, allowing a Hunyuan-level Demon God and an army of fiends to invade the Demon Clan's homeland 780.
Taiyi used the Chaos Bell to destroy numerous enemy generals but was injured by the invading Demon God. Di Jun intervened with the River Diagram and Luo Script, revealing Hunyuan Saint-level strength and protecting both Taiyi and the Chaos Bell 781.
The Western Teachings later sought to use the Demon Clan as frontline cannon fodder. With the Yao Realm threatened by annihilation, Di Jun yielded and promised that the clan would obey their commands in exchange for aid 786.
At the Purple Heaven Palace, Di Jun attempted to claim thirty percent of the war spoils for the Demon Clan. Niu Ben crushed the demand, and Hongjun ordered the clan to serve as logistical support for the Three Teachings rather than bargain as an equal power 799.
