Background

Niu Ben is a transmigrator from Earth who lived among the Ox Clan for thirty thousand years. Though born with Heavenly Immortal cultivation, he initially regarded survival as his only realistic ambition. He began bringing Innate Spiritual Fruits to a mysterious white-haired cultivator every day, hoping to secure a chance at a better future. That cultivator was Taishang Daoist. 1

After Taishang slew his third corpse, he offered Niu Ben an Innate Spiritual Treasure or the chance to become his mount. Niu Ben chose the latter, believing that following Taishang offered his best chance to awaken his ancestral bloodline. In his Green Ox form, he carried Taishang toward Kunlun Mountain. 1 3
