The flame appears during the Hun Clan’s assault on the Yao Realm. Hun Xuzi welcomes it as “Lord Void,” and the Void Swallowing Flames filling the sky react to its arrival 794. It attacks the Yao Clan’s formation with fire rain that devours the formation’s energy 794.

The Medicine Emperor confronts it while using Yao Wan’s body as a vessel. She counters its devouring techniques with Nine Heavens Lightning Fire, then tears away part of its origin force 796 797. Her Heaven Shattering Palm disperses its Black Flame and drives it from the Yao Realm 799. Yao Wan subsequently uses the Ash Extinction Flame to consume captured traces of its flame, while Xiao Yan refines fragments of its origin with the Flame Mantra 804 805.

Later, Xiao Xuan holds the injured flame bound in the Heavenly Tomb. Xiao Yan enters intending to refine it and potentially reach Nine Star Dou Sheng 841. As the Flame Mantra suppresses its resistance, the flame offers a secret concerning Tou She Ancient God in exchange for its survival.
