|---|---|---|
| Intermediate Source Mage | 518 | Introduced as the Star Gazing Squad's captain alongside fellow Intermediate Source Mage A Wang. |
| Advanced Source Mage | 571 | After two years, he and A Wang become renowned Advanced Source Mages and established members of the Lucky Star Squad. |
Background / History
A Xing led a two-person Source Mage squad with A Wang before Su Hao joined under the name A Yang. The group renamed itself the Yang Star Gazing Squad to include its new member, and A Xing began teaching him the basics of drawing and using Source. 518 519
As the squad took on disaster-relief missions across the Hengxuan District, it expanded to include A Shan and A Feng, becoming the Wind Mountain Sun Gazing Squad. A Xing later chose to divide the team into two groups so its members could gain independent experience. 554 558
The squad's growing reputation earned it the name Lucky Star Squad. Though proud of this recognition, A Xing supported the collective decision to refuse Prince Luo's invitation to join the Hengxuan Royal Clan, while remaining open to cooperation for access to Source-related knowledge. 560
Following the disappearance of Anomaly Disasters, A Xing retired from the Mage Association rather than take over the Huai Shui Town branch. He lost his drive to continue as a mage, though he intended to train any future children who wished to become Magicians. 628
Appearance
As an adult, A Xing keeps a buzz cut and is described as having noticeably thick stubble despite being clean-shaven. He adopted the short hairstyle by choice and pressured A Wang to match it. 592
- Usually presents himself with dramatic, image-conscious flair.
- His poses and behavior are described as excessively chuunibyou. 519
- Later wears his hair cropped short, matching the other members of his group. 592
Personality
A Xing is vain, romantic, and highly conscious of reputation. He enjoys squad fame, likes discussing attractive women, and considers his squad's elaborate name a matter of “romance.” His desire for credit nearly provokes a dangerous confrontation with the Hairy Squad when they attempt to claim his team's mission. 518 544 554 560
Beneath that pride, he has a strong sense of responsibility. His father, a powerful Source Mage, died in an Anomaly Disaster; A Xing consequently pursues a form of strength defined not by destruction, but by being dependable enough to solve problems and protect others. 530
His experiences with Su Hao temper his self-image. After using poison gas to defeat stronger opponents, he concludes that a stealthy, assassin-like style may suit him better than open displays of glory. 545
Abilities & Skills
Air-Based Source Casting
A Xing can draw Source from a Source Pearl and release it as invisible, air-like attacks.
- Fires an unseen force wave capable of splitting a large rock. 519
- Creates an Air Tornado that can force open paths through lava. 524
- Uses air blades in combat. 545
- Works with A Wang's Air Bubble protection while investigating hazardous environments. 524
Close-Quarters Combat
Although he relies on Source abilities, A Xing considers close combat essential training for a Source Mage.
- Attempted to test Su Hao's hand-to-hand ability alongside A Wang. 522
- Was caught off guard by Su Hao's Sliding Shadow Step and knee strike, exposing the gap between his expectations and Su Hao's martial skill. 522
Poison-Gas Tactics
After Su Hao provides poison formulas and a strategy, A Xing adopts poison gas as a practical way to overcome stronger human opponents.
- Lures the Advanced Source Mage Hairy Squad into a poison cloud. 545
- Personally finishes the incapacitated opponents to ensure the threat is gone. 545
- Comes to favor indirect, stealth-oriented combat over seeking public credit. 545
Relationships
- A Wang — Longtime teammate and closest partner. Their contrasting attitudes toward danger often cause friction, but they consistently support one another in missions. 518 530 545
- Su Hao / A Yang — Teammate whom A Xing initially teaches to use Source. Su Hao later repeatedly rescues and supports A Xing, revealing power far beyond A Xing's expectations. 519 612
- A Shan and A Feng — New squadmates accepted after some initial hesitation; A Xing helps rename the expanded team the Wind Mountain Sun Gazing Squad. 554
- A Xing's father — A powerful Source Mage who died in an Anomaly Disaster; his death strongly shaped A Xing's ideals of strength and responsibility. 530
- Gulan — Local Mage Association president who criticizes A Xing's overly elaborate squad name. 554
Story Role / Major Arcs

Anomaly Disaster Missions
He participates in missions involving lava, Thunder Source Beasts, and the Fantasy System Anomaly disaster. During these operations, he increasingly realizes that A Yang's perception, combat ability, and technical inventions far exceed ordinary Source Mage standards. 524 528 535 538
Hairy Squad Conflict
A Xing refuses to surrender credit for a completed mission to the Hairy Squad, putting himself and A Wang at risk against the Blacksmith Giant. After Su Hao intervenes, A Xing uses poison gas to defeat the Advanced Source Mage squad. 544 545

“Hahaha, Gulan, you just don't get it—this is romance!” 554
Trivia
