Mu Yue built Ninshu in the Land of Rain, defeated Hanzo’s betrayal, and became Nagato’s master while hiding his Konoha identity. Back in Konoha, he guided his disciples through the Chunin Exams and into the war against Hidden Mist, where their team was ambushed by the Seven Ninja Swordsmen.

• Mu Yue traveled through the Land of Rain as Sōsuke, teaching Ninshu and gathering followers including Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato.
• Mu Yue defeated Kakuzu, spared him, and persuaded him to travel with Ninshu while Hanzo’s bounty on Mu Yue rose.
• Nagato awakened his Rinnegan after Yahiko was wounded, and Mu Yue became his master while Danzō and Hanzo plotted against Ninshu.
• Mu Yue’s followers accepted Hanzo’s invitation, but Hanzo betrayed them in a trapped valley and Mu Yue defeated him with Nagato’s help.
• Mu Yue revealed his identity as Hanyu Muyue to Nagato, then returned to Konoha and led the Chunin Exams as Shisui, Obito, Kakashi, and Guy competed.
• Mu Yue joined the eastern-front campaign against Hidden Mist and sent Kakashi, Obito, Shisui, and Rin on reconnaissance missions.

Mu Yue and his disciples turned back the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and changed the eastern front, while Kakashi, Obito, Guy, and Shisui each faced new tests. The group returned to the battlefield with Kakashi promoted to jonin and Shisui assigned to his team.

• Might Duy and Might Guy helped Kakashi’s squad resist the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, and Mu Yue’s Stone Breathing Chakra Mode and Obito’s sacrifice opened the way for the Konoha team to survive.
• Mu Yue killed Hana Minazuki, Jinin Akebino, Chōjūrō, and other Hidden Mist ninja, forcing the surviving forces to retreat and prompting Karatachi Yagura to revise the eastern front’s plans.
• Mu Yue received new abilities and reported the victory, leading Orochimaru to reorganize Konoha’s campaign and the Hokage to promote Might Duy and arrange rank evaluations for the younger ninja.
• Mu Yue treated his injured disciples and prepared Kakashi, Obito, and Nohara Rin to return to Konoha, while Shisui stayed on the battlefield and joined Takagi Shinji’s team.
• Kakashi passed the jonin assessment, but Obito failed its written exam, and Obito later mistook Rin’s invitation for a date before learning she had planned a celebration for Kakashi.
• Hiruko fled Konoha after his human experiments were discovered, while Shisui awakened Flame Breathing Chakra Mode and defeated Hidden Mist ninja during a mission, earning the name Body Flicker Shisui.
• Might Guy overwhelmed Hyuga Hiashi in the practical jonin assessment but failed the theory exam, while Kakashi, Obito, Rin, and Guy returned to the East Coast Battlefield after recovering.
• Mu Yue gave Kakashi a Pokémon Egg, told Obito about Shisui’s new reputation, and reassigned Shisui to Kakashi’s team.

Mu Yue led Konoha to victory over the Hidden Mist, while Shisui rose to jonin and established his voice within the Uchiha Clan. As Mu Yue took charge of a special Anbu training squad, his disciples’ competition began with Shisui defeating Kakashi.

• Mu Yue’s squad joined the battle against the Hidden Mist, where Mu Yue killed Gengetsu Hozuki and the Three-Tails Jinchuriki before Konoha forced the enemy to retreat.
• Konoha celebrated the East Coast victory, and Hiruzen Sarutobi promoted Obito to jonin while Mu Yue gained new responsibilities and rewards.
• Shisui defeated Uchiha Seisei in a martial exhibition, then refuted Seisei’s proposal to expand the Police Force’s authority and gained standing within the Uchiha Clan.
• Kakashi’s Rockruff hatched and was named Mane Rock, while Might Guy’s egg hatched into Riolu during training.
• Mu Yue declined Orochimaru’s request to join the Land of Hot Water campaign, and Shimura Danzō failed to bring Mu Yue back to Root.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi appointed Mu Yue to lead a special Anbu training squad, and Mu Yue reunited with Minato Namikaze before preparing to train its Anbu and Root members.
• Mu Yue drew the internal battle pairings, and Shisui defeated Kakashi after countering his Lightning Blade: Scatter with genjutsu.

Mu Yue built Ninshu’s alliance and leadership while training Yamato and his other disciples, then led a mission to investigate Kusagakure’s secret pact with Iwagakure. The mission ended with Mu Yue entering the Box of Ultimate Bliss to confront the transformed Yokogawa Tsutomu as his disciples prepared to act.

• Mu Yue defeated Minato in their long-awaited fight, helped him refine the Rasengan, and began training Yamato while Ninshu agreed to cooperate with Amegakure.
• Might Guy lost to Teacher Chen, trained under Mu Yue, then defeated Teacher Chen in a rematch and earned his praise.
• Mu Yue made himself Ninshu’s leader, appointed Kakuzu to head its military department, and led the group toward settling in eastern Land of Rain.
• Mu Yue established a master-disciple relationship with Yamato, encouraged him through training setbacks, and prepared his squad for a mission to investigate Kusagakure.
• Mu Yue discovered Kusagakure and Iwagakure’s plot to intensify the war and open the Box of Ultimate Bliss, while Kakashi’s team found Uzumaki Hualing among Kusagakure’s refugees.
• Mu Yue confronted Longfei with evidence of Kusagakure’s alliance, urged him to prepare to lead the village, and later tracked Yokogawa Tsutomu to the underground base.
• Yokogawa opened the Box of Ultimate Bliss and was pulled inside, then emerged as the giant winged Satori before the box drew Mu Yue in as well.
• Yokogawa ordered Kusagakure’s ninja to attack Konoha and killed a hesitant subordinate, while Shisui recovered his Chakra and prepared to act with Kakashi and Obito.
