Background

Xia Ranran grew up next door to Ling Yuan after he and his grandfather moved there five years earlier. She regards him as “Brother Ling Yuan” and immediately defends him when Xiao Qingya questions the source of his sudden strength 32.

She is the daughter of Xiao Qingya and Xia Annan. Her father is one of Yan Country's Eight Pillars, the Fire Pillar and a Heavenly Monarch, though Ranran later struggles with their strained relationship and Xia Annan's attempts to make amends 61 158 303.

Personality

Ranran is affectionate, trusting, and direct about her attachment to Ling Yuan. She readily places her trust in him when facing Gabriel, even after realizing that her own power could endanger Yan Country 66.

She is also compassionate and protective of others. When Kallen and Sakuya arrive in an unfamiliar world, Ranran immediately sympathizes with them and invites them to regard Ling Yuan's home as their own 168. She can become insecure about Ling Yuan's other companions, but accepts his reassurance and forms friendly relationships with Kiana and Himeko 73.

Her growing maturity is reflected in her handling of training, the Vatican visit, and the difficult revelations surrounding Xia Annan 234 247 303.

Gabriel Possession

Ranran reveals her contract with Gabriel, but Gabriel later takes over her body and nearly causes a catastrophe. After learning the truth from Wang Jing, Ranran questions whether she should use Gabriel's power at all 33 50 65.
