Hearing He-El speak her name, Hela's expression hardened.
She had not expected He-El to know of her.
Odin had erased every trace of her from Asgard. Ordinary young people, even Asgard's newer generation such as Thor and Loki, no longer knew how Asgard had become the ruler of the Nine Realms.
Her name belonged to a distant age—the age when Hela and Odin had conquered the Nine Realms together, when she had served as his vanguard and carved out Asgard's territory for him, her name resounding throughout the realms.
But after conquering the Nine Realms, Odin had wanted to rule with benevolence and halt the wars of expansion. Driven by ambition and a love of battle, Hela had refused to let go. She believed they could seize more territory, that Asgard was capable of conquering more nations and should not stop there. Thus, father and daughter had come into conflict, nearly parting ways.
When Hela had wanted to lead an army beyond the Nine Realms alone, Odin had sent the Valkyrie Corps to stop her. In a fit of rage, Hela had slaughtered the Valkyrie Corps, provoking Odin's wrath. Odin had personally stripped her of her divine power and sealed her away, while also erasing every historical record related to Hela from Asgard.
Only recently had Hela sensed that Odin could no longer suppress Asgard, allowing her to successfully reconnect with it. Not only had she regained her divine power, she had nearly fused with Asgard itself and obtained the strength she had long dreamed of.
"I don't like that surname." Hela was deeply dissatisfied with He-El calling her Hela Odinson. "Call me Hela. From now on, my name will become the honorable surname of my descendants."
"I have no objection to your preference in surnames. But if you don't
