Ebony Maw unleashed a mind-shaking wave indiscriminately toward Thanos. He had already seen that among the enemies was a master of mental manipulation who had hypnotized Thanos and was trying to gather everyone's strength to seize the Infinity Gauntlet.
A vast, surging mental wave swept over from nearby like a tsunami. Even the air seemed to ripple into the shape of ocean waves, violent and turbulent.
"Aah!!!" Mantis was the first to suffer. She was in the middle of hypnotizing Thanos and had no defense at all against Ebony Maw's sudden mental shock. Her head felt as though it had been smashed hard by an iron hammer, and she could no longer maintain the mental hypnosis on Thanos.
Mantis rolled her eyes back. Her fingers loosened from Thanos's forehead and temples, and her legs could no longer clamp around him as she abruptly fell from his back.
"It's a mental attack!" The mental-defense alarms on Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, and the other Avengers sounded.
After fighting Loki in the Battle of New York, every Avenger had been equipped with a mental-defense device that blocked Mind Control and prevented Mind Blasts at specific frequencies. It was only the size of a fingernail badge, but everyone had one. Therefore, Ebony Maw's mental shock did not affect the four Avengers.
Their expressions changed, and they all unleashed their greatest strength, intending to pull off the Infinity Gauntlet before Thanos woke up.
"Aah—" Pietro Maximoff, Wanda Maximoff, Stephen Strange, Star-Lord Peter Quill, and Rocket Raccoon were directly struck by the mental shock. They all released the Infinity Gauntlet, clutched their heads, and rolled across the ground with bloodshot whites in their eyes, gritting their teeth as though their brains were about to burst from the vibrations.
