He-El had always conducted himself with boundless goodwill. From Earth to Planet Namek, he had shown a tolerance that embraced everything.
Before Earthlings so much weaker than himself—Bulma, Goku, Master Roshi, Yamcha, Korin, Mr. Popo, Kami, King Yemma, King Kai, and even the Namekians now on Planet Namek—He-El had always been benevolent.
They were simply too weak, and their use of knowledge was far too rudimentary. In He-El's eyes, they were like ancient humans who had only just learned to make fire by drilling wood and to sharpen branches into spears for hunting.
Immature, newly born, still learning and growing.
Though some of them appeared to have lived through hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of years, they had merely experienced the passage of time, not an elevation of their thinking. He-El expected nothing of them, so he had always treated them kindly.
Creatures stubbornly striving to grow were endearing.
But if they seriously and resolutely wished to follow him, to work under He-El and become subordinates worthy of his trust rather than subjects of research, then He-El had to give the Great Elder and those who followed him a serious warning.
This was a road without end. He-El himself could not see where his own path ended. Even now, New Krypton was being watched by the Monitors in the DC Universe, who were awaiting his appearance and preparing to hunt him.
Following He-El meant taking part in a grand cosmic war. New Krypton would go to war with the Monitors—a conflict capable of destroying the universe. Becoming He-El's subordinate was not some safe place to take shelter.
He-El understood the Great Elder's thoughts. For the continuation of his race and civilization, he wanted to leave the Namekians with another path, another seed.
He-El had seen too many such
