"Dandy..." He-El gently cradled the white egg the Grand Elder had expelled.

In the original story, Dandy was the 108th son of the Namekian Grand Elder. He had lived peacefully on Namek with his people, until Frieza, seeking immortality through the Dragon Balls, led an army to invade Namek. The Namekians were massacred by the Frieza Force.

When Dodoria attacked Dandy's village and hunted Dandy down, Krillin and Son Gohan arrived in time to save him, sparing him from disaster. Afterward, they became good friends.

Dandy took Krillin to meet the Grand Elder, who unlocked Krillin's potential, then Son Gohan's as well. Later, the Grand Elder unlocked Dandy's potential, allowing him to fly and heal.

Just before Frieza destroyed Planet Namek after being defeated by the Super Saiyan Goku, Dandy and many other Namekians were transferred to a new planet to live.

Not long afterward, Earth's Kami chose to merge with Piccolo because the Androids and Cell were too powerful. With no Kami on Earth, the Dragon Balls could not be used, and Shenron could not be summoned to restore the dead to life. The Dragon Ball Warriors needed a new Kami, one capable of creating Dragon Balls to protect Earth. They thought of Dandy. Son Goku went to the planet where Namek had relocated, seeking a Namekian to become Earth's Kami, create Dragon Balls, and revive the dead. The Grand Elder at the time recommended Dandy, and Son Goku invited him to become Earth's Kami. Dandy was willing to become the new Kami as well.

In the end, Dandy became Earth's new Kami. He improved the Dragon Balls and strengthened their power.

Dandy was not a combat-type Namekian. His battle power was, in fact, extremely weak.

Dandy was a functional-type Namekian, belonging to the Dragon Clan. Compared to combat-type
