The Avengers in the conference room stiffened.
Not only had they come into contact with these cosmic treasures, the Infinity Stones, they had encountered more than one?
No matter how they looked at it, treasures of this cosmic caliber should have been incredibly precious, yet they had appeared on Earth one after another?
Was that reasonable?
They began frowning deeply, thinking about what object fit the description of another Infinity Stone.
Hawkeye was the first to think of it. His eyes lit up subtly as he said,
"Was it the Cosmic Cube?"
Nick Fury had sent Hawkeye to NASA West District many times to guard the Cosmic Cube, monitor its frequency and energy absorption, and create energy weapons.
From Stephen Strange's words, Hawkeye could almost guess that the most distinctive trait of the Infinity Stones was their nearly limitless energy.
Since S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers had been established, the only object he had encountered that possessed the characteristic of nearly infinite energy was the Cosmic Cube Thor had taken back to Asgard.
The other Avengers had guessed it at the same time.
The mastermind controlling Loki could not possibly have sent Loki to Earth just to seek revenge.
His goal had been the Cosmic Cube, another cosmic treasure. That made everything seem perfectly reasonable.
Tony Stark thought of even more. Giving the Cosmic Cube to Thor and having him take it back to Asgard had, in retrospect, been an excellent decision. It had directly made Asgard the target of Loki's controller, pulling Asgard into an allied front with Earth.
It was a good thing that the Cosmic Cube was in Asgard, which was who knew how much stronger than Earth. Earth could not bear having two Infinity Stones on it.
