"Save the universe?"
Pietro Maximoff and Wanda Maximoff looked utterly incredulous. Some lunatic had come out of nowhere, sat on their sofa, and told them they needed to save the universe.
"Not you." Nick Fury's gaze passed over Pietro Maximoff and settled on Wanda Maximoff. He said gravely, "You, Wanda Maximoff. You possess the power to save the universe."
"Me???" Wanda Maximoff was completely dumbfounded. Her beautiful face was filled with astonishment as she glanced at Nick Fury, then looked at her brother Pietro Maximoff. Their eyes met, and they unanimously concluded that Nick Fury was an escapee from a mental institution.
At the same time, they were utterly bewildered.
Being suddenly told that they had to save the universe would bewilder anyone.
If it were about saving Earth, it would at least sound somewhat believable. After all, the Avengers and He-El had saved Earth before. Who on Earth did not want to fight alongside them, save the planet together, and become a great hero of Earth?
But saving the universe...
"Stephen, show them the future," Nick Fury said.
Stephen Strange did not act at once. Instead, he fell silent for a moment, stared at Wanda Maximoff, and frowned.
"Nick, I know what you want to do, but... is this really alright?"
Stephen frowned, hesitant and uncertain.
He knew what Nick Fury intended to do.
