Bai Lingmiao was born into the Bai Family of Oxheart Village. As a child, she was close to her grandfather, Bai Hangshu, who told her stories and gave her sesame candy; she remembered this period as the happiest day of her life. Her family concealed a connection to the White Lotus Sect, its underground halls, ceramic figures, and inherited cultivation methods. 348 349 1038

At Qingfeng Temple, Danyangzi selected Bai Lingmiao as a human medicinal guide for alchemy. Li Huowang arranged for her to appear to be menstruating, causing Danyangzi to deem her unsuitable and abandon the procedure; she survived, though she was thrown from the stone urn and injured. 13

Following the destruction of her family, Bai Lingmiao repeatedly returned to the Bai Family Ancestral Hall to honor her ancestors. She eventually uncovered human remains beneath the hall and helped exhume and bury them, apologizing for the Bai Family's actions.
