Yang Ming glanced at the sausages on the cart, which still emitted faint Soul Power fluctuations, and spoke bluntly.
"You're a Food System Soul Master. What effect does your sausage Soul Skill have?"
Although there was a rule in the Soul Master World against casually asking about someone else's Soul Skills, Food System Soul Masters needed others to eat their creations. How could anyone just eat one without asking first?
Oscar was somewhat surprised that Yang Ming had recognized both his Soul Master identity and Martial Soul at a glance. What an expert! He hurriedly replied.
"This brother is right. These sausages are indeed produced by my First Soul Skill, Recovery Big Sausage!"
"The effect is comprehensive recovery. It can promote wound healing, restore stamina and Soul Power, relieve fatigue and pain, and increase satiety."
After hearing Oscar's introduction and smelling the fragrance, Yang Ming was somewhat tempted. He said.
"Then give me one sausage."
Hearing that he had made his first sale, Oscar beamed with delight. Although the hair on his face made his expression difficult to see, the emotion in his eyes was obvious.
"Coming right up!"
As he spoke, he wrapped a sausage and handed it to Yang Ming, who paid and accepted it.
Yang Ming took a bite of the sausage and carefully sensed the changes within his body. He quickly discovered a warm current restoring his vitality and stamina. The efficiency was quite good as well!
Seeing Yang Ming eat it, Oscar hurriedly asked.
"How is it? How is it?"
"Very good."
Yang Ming nodded and replied.
"The recovery speed is good, and the effects are comprehensive. For a First Soul Skill, it's already excellent. You're very talented!"
Hearing Yang Ming's approval, Oscar was rather pleased and struck up a conversation.
"You're here to apply to our academy too, right? Aren't you going to take the second assessment?"
Yang Ming was not surprised by Oscar's question. It was hardly strange for such a young and highly talented Food System Soul Master to become a Shrek Academy student. Yang Ming asked Oscar in return.
"I'm not here to apply. Aside from the first test at the entrance, does your academy have more admission assessments?"
Oscar froze when he heard that Yang Ming was not there to enroll, then instinctively asked.
"Then you are?"
Yang Ming answered casually.
"I came because of a bet with your dean."
Hearing those words, Oscar remembered the person the dean had mentioned to everyone a few days ago. His entire body trembled, and he looked at Yang Ming in terror as sweat poured down his face. He also knew that Yang Ming had broken Dai Mubai's leg over a disagreement. Now that Yang Ming had eaten his sausage, if Yang Ming learned about his indecent Soul Incantation, wouldn't Oscar be finished?!
Seeing Oscar look as though his soul was about to flee from fright, Yang Ming assumed he was afraid of being beaten and spoke gently.
"Don't be afraid. I generally don't attack people for no reason. Dai Mubai brought it upon himself."
Oscar's face turned even paler at Yang Ming's gentle response. But it seems I accidentally offended you too, sir! Oscar felt like crying without tears. However, Oscar was not Dai Mubai. He knew his Soul Incantation would eventually be exposed sooner or later. Rather than be dealt with in the future, he might as well confess now and seek leniency.
With that thought, Oscar hurriedly bowed deeply to Yang Ming and loudly apologized.
"I'm sorry!"
Yang Ming was caught off guard by Oscar's sudden apology and asked in confusion.
"What is this about?"
Oscar answered Yang Ming somewhat nervously.
"This... I... that Soul Skill..."
Seeing Oscar hesitate and struggle to speak, Yang Ming did not urge him. He had already experienced Oscar's Soul Skill. It was good and not poisonous. That was enough!
After hemming and hawing for a long time, Oscar finally gritted his teeth and demonstrated his Soul Skill.
"Laozi Has a Big Sausage."
Yellow light suddenly gathered in his palm, while two yellow rings rose from beneath Oscar's feet. Immediately afterward, a sausage identical to the one Yang Ming had eaten appeared in his hand.
Before Oscar could see Yang Ming's reaction, explosive laughter rang out behind him.
"HAHAHAHA..."
"HAHA..."
"..."
Ma Hongjun was laughing the loudest. As he laughed, he teased Oscar.
"Oscar, did you see that so many applicants passed the second checkpoint this year, so you came here specifically to help everyone relax and not be so nervous?"
It turned out that while Oscar and Yang Ming had been talking, the dozen or so remaining applicants at the entrance had all passed the first checkpoint. Led by Ma Hongjun, they were walking toward the open area where Yang Ming stood. Ma Hongjun could not be bothered to guide them one by one! Among them were Tang San, Xiao Wu, and a very beautiful Young Girl.
The Young Girl wore a simple white dress that gave her a clean, refreshing appearance. Her neat, ear-length hair framed smooth skin as tender as lychee flesh, along with delicate features. She was around 1.65 meters tall, with a very well-proportioned figure and a noble, ethereal temperament. She looked like an aristocratic young lady who had received an excellent education. Like a warm spring breeze, her gentle smile infected everyone around her. She was Ning Rongrong, daughter of Ning Fengzhi of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect.
Because Oscar currently had his back to the direction Ma Hongjun had come from, and was extremely nervous in front of Yang Ming, he had not noticed the people approaching behind him. He had inadvertently demonstrated his First Soul Skill to everyone.
Aside from the mockery, Oscar also heard a particularly piercing voice filled with contempt. It made him feel as though his dignity and self-respect had been trampled into the dirt, and he lowered his head like an ostrich burying its head in the ground.
"Ew!!! How can there be such a disgusting, vulgar Soul Incantation?" Xiao Wu said.
Hearing the laughter, Yang Ming looked behind Oscar. Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong all wore contemptuous expressions, as though they had seen something filthy. Ma Hongjun had even laughed at his friend's embarrassment. There were also various other passersby wearing looks of scorn and ridicule. Finally, Yang Ming looked at the mortified Oscar and said calmly.
"You have no need to apologize for your Soul Incantation. And I don't think your Soul Incantation has any effect on whether I use your Soul Skill."
Amid the mocking and sarcastic voices around him, Oscar heard Yang Ming respond like that. Looking up and seeing that Yang Ming's expression was sincere, he was stunned.
Yang Ming asked Oscar.
"Your Innate Soul Power should be very high, right? What rank?"
Hearing Yang Ming's question, Oscar came back to his senses and answered quietly.
"I have Innate Full Soul Power."
Although Oscar did not speak loudly, everyone present was a Soul Grandmaster or above, so they all heard him clearly.
Upon hearing Oscar's Innate Soul Power, those who had been mocking him instantly could not laugh anymore, including Tang San and Ma Hongjun. Ning Rongrong, the proud daughter of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect with Innate Rank Nine Soul Power, could not even maintain her ladylike facade. Her face full of disbelief, she cried out.
"How is that possible?!"
"How can a Support System Soul Master have Innate Full Soul Power?!"
Yang Ming did not even glance at Ning Rongrong. Instead, he praised Oscar.
"The first Food System Soul Master with Innate Full Soul Power on the Douluo Continent?"
"Good! Very good!!!"
"Exceptionally gifted!"
After praising him, Yang Ming continued solemnly.
"Remember this!"
"Others may find your Soul Incantation disgusting or repulsive, but that is not your fault. On the contrary, every jeer and sneer they make proves nothing except their own failure of character and severe lack of upbringing!"
Hearing Yang Ming insult them so harshly, Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and those proud genius bystanders in the crowd immediately could not stand it anymore.
Tang God King also frowned. Yang Ming's words cut him deeply. If he and Yang Ming had not been strangers, he would have thought Yang Ming was calling him out by name.
They immediately began accusing Yang Ming.
Xiao Wu: "His Soul Incantation is already shameless and vulgar. What's wrong with saying so?"
Ning Rongrong: "Exactly! Besides, just because he says he has Innate Full Soul Power, does that make it true? I think he's lying!"
Hearing someone speak up, the others hurriedly chimed in with support.
"Yeah!"
"That's right. Just because he says so, it's true?"
"..."
Hearing the crowd's doubts and abuse, Yang Ming smiled at Oscar.
"Do you see? Once again, they have displayed their lack of manners and their mediocre vision, shackled by worldly conventions..."
As he spoke, Yang Ming's expression turned arrogant. The aura of Absolute Dominance spread from him and enveloped the entire clearing. For a moment, everyone except Oscar—including Tang God King and Wu Taijun—felt Yang Ming's majesty forcefully suppressing them. They felt helpless, lonely, and afraid. Not a single word of rebuttal could leave their mouths.
Yang Ming gave Oscar one final statement.
"You and I are Giant Dragons destined to soar across the Skyline. How could the ants of the mortal world understand our greatness?!"
After speaking, Yang Ming turned and left. Throughout the entire speech, he had not looked at that group even once. His bearing was aloof and proud to the extreme!!!
PS: Guantou personally feels that Oscar's talent truly stands alone on the Support System path. Battle Soul Masters like Tang San, as well as Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong, might compare to him, and later he even gained that godlike Sixth Soul Skill capable of copying the Shura God's Divine Skill. Oscar really is irreplaceable.
As for Yang Ming's personality, Guantou shaped it based on the limited descriptions in the original work, while removing the influence of his position as Sea God Pavilion Master.
By Tang Wulin's era, Yang Ming had already become someone who had shed all ornamentation and restrained his sharpness, gentle on the outside yet firm within. Adding the refinement of a prestigious upbringing, someone capable of loving Ya Li should still lean toward kindness. Combined with the unyielding pride of an unrivaled genius, it was not that he lacked pride—his pride was simply carved into his bones. Usually, he would not wear it on his face or humiliate others through his actions.
That is Guantou's own interpretation and portrayal of Yang Ming's character in this work. Everyone is also welcome to leave your own thoughts on Yang Ming.
