Background / History

Holy Mother Wudang is among Sect Master Tongtian's established disciples on Mount Kunlun. She treats Bai Jin as a fellow disciple despite his Outer Sect origins, defending him when Daoist Duobao criticizes Bai Jin's frequent visits to their Martial Uncles. She also acknowledges Duobao's greater seniority and accepts his guidance on cultivation with proper courtesy. 2

Before Bai Jin leaves Mount Kunlun, Wudang guards him during his realization of Tongtian's sword technique. She is envious of the favor their master shows Bai Jin, but still congratulates him warmly. 3

She later tells Bai Jin that Tongtian's initial reason for accepting the Azure White Crane was to use him as a mount, though the plan was reconsidered because the crane was not sufficiently steady or imposing. This revelation prompts Bai Jin to seek a mount for Tongtian himself. 4

Personality

Wudang is approachable and considerate toward her junior disciples. She asks Bai Jin not to be excessively formal with her, considers guarding his enlightenment part of a senior sister's duty, and consistently checks on his injuries, travels, and conflicts. 3 4 14 24

She is tactful in disputes. During the Dao discussion with the Western disciples, she interrupts an increasingly intense exchange by proposing a discussion of treasures instead, giving both sides room to reflect. She quickly recognizes that the Western disciples are deliberately concealing their strategy during the treasure comparison. 13

Although Wudang supports sect discipline, she dislikes being disliked and is reluctant to take on the role of enforcer herself. She approves of Bai Jin's harsh measures against disorderly Outer Sect Disciples, but humorously refuses his request to become the “bad guy” in his place. 21 39
