Background / History

Bruce Banner sought a cure for Hulk and returned to Calver University, where General Ross’s attempt to capture him provoked another transformation. Hulk destroyed the military force and the factory before Banner later accepted Dr. Sterns’s temporary suppression treatment. The treatment did not cure him; it merely prevented transformation for a time. 43

When Abomination attacked Manhattan, Banner deliberately leapt from a helicopter to confront him despite uncertainty over whether he could still transform. Hulk returned, but the lingering antidote had weakened him, leaving him initially outmatched. He ultimately joined Ivan Vanko, Frank Castle, Mercury, and Electro in defeating Abomination. 44 45
