Angel stepped lightly out of the Mirror World and returned to reality, appearing amid the ruins of the Uninhabited Village on Sona Island, deep in the Berserk Sea.
Half a year ago, the Demoness Sect's Blue Witch had ambushed her here. Their battle had completely destroyed the island's only port, and the residents Angel had saved had been resettled elsewhere by the Church of Storms, leaving the place deserted.
Yet Angel discovered that quite a few people had recently sneaked back onto the island. They had rebuilt a pier near the enormous crater created by a stray wisp of divine power from Cheek, the Primordial Demoness, and brought in more people, apparently intending to turn this place into a new port city.
She guessed that they might have returned to this island, with its decent surroundings and fresh water, to escape the fighting in the Rorsted Archipelago.
"Good thing they haven't come to this abandoned village. Otherwise, even the slightest trace of power leaking from the City of Calamity would be enough to drive them mad or kill them, or even turn them into monsters whose heads are separate from their bodies..."
Muttering to herself, Angel entered the basement that led to the Forsaken Land of the Gods and stood on the altar covered in intricate patterns and symbols. Rather than "crossing over" immediately, she softly recited Mr. Fool's honorific name.
This was a task that existence had specifically assigned after the last Tarot Club gathering, asking Angel to report the developments in the war she knew about through prayers in the coming days. From Klein, she had learned that he had received a similar task.
Was this revived god going to intervene in the war between the seven gods again, just as he had during George III's advancement?
