On Friday evening, after braving wind and rain, the Blue Avenger finally docked at a private harbor secretly controlled by the rebels near Bayam, the City of Generosity.
Compared to the crews of ordinary ships, the sailors aboard this ghost ship practically had a holiday at sea. Apart from cleaning their rooms and the deck each day and leaving someone on night watch, they had nothing to do outside of combat. They either gathered to play cards or leaned against the portholes, gazing out at the endless sea and longing every day to reach shore.
Thus, as soon as they returned to port and received their captain Alger Wilson's approval, the sailors fled the ghost ship that required no handling. After a brief rest, they headed off in groups of three or five to places of entertainment such as the Red Theater, ready to enjoy a proper weekend break.
Of course, this suited the Hanged Man Alger's plans. His sailors would usually spend the night at the Red Theater, then while away the entire following day in the nearby taverns and casinos. It would be tomorrow evening at the earliest before anyone noticed their captain was missing.
Even if they did notice, Alger could simply say he had visited another, smaller brothel with better service. With the Red Theater having received little "fresh stock" lately, this excuse would be especially convincing.
With that in mind, he returned to Bayam with the others before leaving the group and visiting the Church of Storms' Wave Church to briefly report on his debriefing trip. Then he returned to his property, sorted out his equipment, replenished his charms, and took a short nap to restore his spirituality.
Only when the midnight bells rang outside his window did he quietly step out onto the street
