Final Clue

Late at night, Bansy Harbor, once bustling at the crossroads of several shipping routes, lay in ruins. Blackened marks scarred it as though from explosions, while broken walls looked as if fierce winds had torn through them. Apart from the faint sound of waves and birds calling in the corners, the harbor was deathly still.

"Groups of at least three! Bring weapons and lanterns, even if you can see in the dark!"

Alger, captain of the Blue Avenger and the Hanged Man, called out to his crew. The eager sailors gave casual acknowledgments, went ashore in small groups, and headed straight into the ruined harbor.

They had long heard that the residents, having fled in haste, had left gold and other valuables behind. Plenty of daring ships had searched the place over the past few months, but surely something remained.

Alger watched his crew scatter into the ruins and vanish, his brows tightly furrowed. He seemed to disapprove of this visit to Bansy Harbor. Only after he stepped ashore and walked alone into the depths of the ruins did his expression return to normal.

He had spread those rumors himself, of course, to fulfill Mr. World's request.

That way, even if the Church later discovered something amiss, its first suspects would be the sailors who had proposed coming here to make a quick fortune, not the captain who had opposed the trip.

Pleased with his plan, Alger followed the main road he remembered to the collapsed Storm Church. After a moment's silence, he headed toward a small building nearby, where thick cables protruded from the wreckage.
